Technology / Applications Consultant

Humana is needing a very skilled Mainframe Developer to support Humana mainframe software application interfaces. The successful candidate will be highly skilled at design and working with users on specifications for sending offshore. In this position which is a mix of design work to send to offshore development resources, as well as, technical support maintaining COBOL batch and DB2 programs and JCL jobs including occasional coding to supplement the offshore work.

Strong analytical skills are required in this role primarily to ensure the current process is working as designed and trouble shoot any and all issues related to the application interfaces. Secondary responsibility is to assist in designing a long term solution to eliminate any issues and to enable a more flexible and responsive process in communicating with Humana's third party vendors. Strong communication skills are required to coordinate with multiple teams as far as issue identification, resolution process, programming and implementation.

Key responsibilities include:
Perform analysis, design, coding, testing, implementation and support tasks needed to develop, maintain main frame applications using IBM Cobol, EZtreive, DB2
Solid programming and debugging fundamentals plus ability to multitask across multiple technologies is crucial.
Technical skills to include experience in Smartest, Platinum/SPUIF, File-aid, TSO/ISPF, CICS, Stored Procedures.
Accountable for understanding the business needs of the organization and translating those needs into technological systems designs specifications and solutions.
Work with business partners analyze, design, develop, implement and integrate moderate to complex business systems that will support Humana's business objectives.
Understand Humana's IT organization, methods, policies and technical environment to effectively and efficiently complete assignments in accordance with established procedures.


Qualified candidates must have:
Minimum education level of Bachelors of Science, Computer Science or equivalent.
Minimum of 5 years IT related work experience on IBM Mainframe using COBOL and DB2 with strong programming skills, mostly in Humana's mainframe environment. Includes COBOL, DB2, File Aid, MVS JCL, UCC7 and others.
Experience desired in Platinum/SPUFI, File-aid, TSO/ISPF, CICS, Stored Procedures.
Experience in JCL and CA7 on IBM Mainframe
Ability to write specification for both CICS and Batch Program.

Business Knowledge of Insurance, Healthcaredf-tc
