Risk Management Data/Application Architect:

The primary function of the Data/Application Architect is to provide data, application and technology consulting and leadership for the Risk Management IT portfolio, including CRM, ERM, ORM and GRC. Responsibilities include providing data, application and technology consulting in pre-Feasibility and Feasibility discussions with IT team members and business partners, providing technical leadership and guidance to the IT team for Definition and Design work, preparing project deliverables and documentation as needed to support Capital One's Architecture-related processes (including the Building Permit process), leading the technical review component of vendor software package evaluation projects, leading data and system integration work, acting as a liaison with other architects (security architect, enterprise architect, etc.), and other responsibilities required of Architects at Capital One. The Data/Application Architect will define the future data strategy for the Risk Management organization and assist in building the target architecture for Credit Risk Management (CRM) for commercial and consumer processes, as well as refreshing existing domain target architectures. The Data/Application Architect will create and manage strategic technology plans for the Risk Management domain to ensure business objectives are met in the context of Capital One's strategic plans. The Data/Application Architect will review and approve designs for Risk Management IT projects. The candidate is responsible for ensuring project and team alignment with enterprise technology standards. The Data/Application Architect is also a valuable business consultant; he/she conducts analysis of business processes and technologies to determine and validate the stated and unstated needs of the business unit and enterprise. The Data/Application Architect is expected to steer technology decisions to provide long-term business value, flexibility, reliability, and cost-effectiveness. The Data/Application Architect will report to the Director of Risk Management Architecture and will work within an immediate team of approximately 30 IT professionals with a $15M IT portfolio in 2007.df-tc

Experience/Skills
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor's degree in computer science, computer engineering, or comparable degree in IT related areas
Minimum 5 years of experience, knowledge and understanding of Application and Data Architecture disciplines, including data, process, service, application and technology modeling techniques
Solid understanding of the enterprise architecture industry and trends
Strong verbal and written communications skills - ability to communicate with technical resources and upper management and excellent facilitation and presentation skills
Strong analytical and decision making skills
Ability to manage high complexity and high ambiguity initiatives effectively
Strong influencing and internal consulting skills
Ability to define, structure, and plan work

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Experience with ARIS modeling tool
Datamart or Data warehouse experience
Experience in the financial services industry
Experience with Risk Management and Compliance processes including commercial and consumer credit risk processes
Experience with business intelligence (BI) tools (eg. Cognos) for reporting, trend analysis, root/cause analysis, correlation analysis and other BI functions
Experience with business process management tools and workflow solutions (e.g. Fujitsu)
Experience with the BEA WebLogic 8.1 Integration Platform and an understanding of the BEA AquaLogic product suite
