PRIMARY FUNCTION:

The Senior Manager ??? Infrastructure Services position is responsible for all facets of the organizations technology infrastructure, including architecture, capacity planning, administration, operational management, and troubleshooting to ensure the efficient, stable, reliable and secure operations of the organizations technology.

This position will provide management and leadership to an existing staff of approx 10 technology resources and will oversee voice, video & data networks, server and storage infrastructure, and all desktop support services.

The position will also work closely with the Director of IT and decision makers across the organization in order to identify, recommend, develop, implement and support cost-effective and mission-enabling technology solutions for all aspects of the organization.

This position requires a highly motivated individual who is skilled and comfortable interacting with all levels of the organization, is an effective communicator, and can provide technology thought-leadership.

The successful candidate will be customer-oriented, results-driven, and passionate about enabling the mission of the organization via technological capabilities.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Design, implement, monitor and manage wide and local area networks to provide reliable data & voice communications for all locations.

Design, implement, monitor and manage servers and related storage and operating systems that process and support organization software applications.

Develop annual and long-range plans for equipping organization staff, faculty, and students with effective and practical technology components.

Ability to evaluate technology solutions, drive to a recommendation, and successfully prepare proposals and materials to gain buy-in from senior/executive staff.

Lead the administration and management of all personal computing devices and peripherals, ensuring proper performance and reliability, and mitigating security risks.

Analyze and evaluate incident and problem reports; identify and address ticket trends; make recommendations to reduce help line incident rate.

Recommend enhancements to incident and problem reporting system to ensure that solutions best meet needs of the organization community.

Develop and publish network, storage, and voice usage statistics; develop performance metrics in pursuit of continuous performance improvement.

Develop and publish standards and policies for all the organization uses of computing resources.

Establish staffing models that best meet the growing and diverse needs of the organization staff, faculty, and students.

Establish strategies for the continuing development and growth of technical staff.

Mentor and provide training in established processes, policies, and procedures.

Manage projects within the infrastructure group and participate on all projects, upgrades and implementations that impact the production environment.

Actively participate in Change Management to ensure all changes to the production environment have been tested, documented and approved prior to implementation.

Lead the effort to design and implement a business continuity and disaster recovery plan.

Prepare annual capital and operating budgets.

Evaluate and recommend infrastructure components, software, management tools and consulting resources.

Actively manage vendor relationship and contracts.

Requirements / Qualifications (Education, Experience and Certifications):

Minimum of Bachelor's Degree in technology, business (or related) field; or commensurate amount of background and experience.

7+ years Network design and/or Systems Administration experience.

5+ years of IT management experience.

CCNA or similar networking certification a plus.

ITIL, CMM, COBIT or other IT industry best practice/governance certifications/knowledge a plus.

Higher Education experiences a plus.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Must have excellent customer service, organizational, and communication skills (written & verbal).

Proven coaching and mentoring skills to ensure that team members grow technically and professionally.

Demonstrated ability to produce quality infrastructure documentation.

Ability to prioritize workload and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.

Expert working knowledge of MS applications (Word, Excel, Visio, Outlook, PowerPoint and SharePoint).

Ability to develop solutions for a variety of technical and operation problems.

Ability to operate successfully in ambiguous situations; demonstrates flexibility, adaptability.

Operates with high-degree of personal accountability; holds self and team responsible for quality, volume and timeliness of delivery.
