Summary Our client, located in the West Sacramento area, has an immediate opening for a direct hire Senior Mechanical Engineer to work with mechanical commodities within the procurement engineering team and have engineering responsibility for the US supply base. International travel at short notice will be required when necessary. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: The individual's essential duties and responsibilities will include, but not be limited to: - The technical evaluation and selection of suppliers, qualification of their manufacturing processes and management of parts quality. - Work closely with development engineering to provide a cost effective sourcing solution that ensures the product quality and functional specifications are achieved. - Pivotal in design for manufacture and engineering change control and introduction. - Work closely with the development engineering team to review product designs and recommend design for manufacture improvements. - Responsible for the reporting mechanisms within the supplier base including yield management, monthly performance metrics and quarterly business reviews. Qualifications/Education: - An engineering degree, (mechanical preferred) is required. - Previous experience in a manufacturing industry of storage subsystem products would be useful - A quality focus and approach - Good understanding and knowledge of manufacturing processes. - Commercially aware of engineering aspects that influence cost. - Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. - Self directed to work both independently and as part of a team. - Ability to prioritize and co-ordinate activities with conflicting deadlines.
