Job Responsibilities Job Summary:
Provide network engineering support for the network. Work closely with the business units to understand their network requirements and assist the corporate network team with day to day engineering activity.


Job Responsibilities:
Management of the Enterprise TCP/IP network which consists of Cisco Routers and Switches.
Support the wide area network connections to the National Data Center and other divisional locations. The WAN connections consist of MPLS, Frame Relay, ATM, SONET and dark fiber based technologies.

Gain a solid understanding of the Enterprise network architecture. Focus on the Core, Regional Hub and Remote locations that make up the Enterprise network.
Work closely with the business units to understand their network requirements. Work with the Enterprise Network Team to review these requirements and engineer a design that will fall inline with the existing infrastructure.
Work closely with local engineering to understand the hand off between the regional and enterprise network. Gain a solid understanding of how third party WAN circuits traverse the internal infrastructure.

Assist with the provisioning and/or decommissioning of network services throughout the WAN. This activity could include installing and/or deinstalling network devices, as well as, provisioning and/or decommissioning of WAN circuits.
Assist the Enterprise Network Team in resolving network issues that arise from day to day. Monitor the Remedy queue and be sure to work all network support tickets to an appropriate resolution.

Assist the Enterprise Network Team to keep an up to date inventory of all network devices that reside on the WAN.
Provide proactive reports on critical enterprise management information, such as, SNMP, syslogging and Netflow.
Provide on call emergency support for the Enterprise network locations. Assist with network troubleshooting efforts and provide on site support when necessary.
Provide 7x24 support coverage, when necessary, in out of hours and business critical situations.
Punctual, regular, and consistent attendance.

Minimum Requirements Requirements:
BS Degree preferred or equivalent work experience
5+ years networking experience, preferably in a large IP Wide Area Network.
Working knowledge of leading network vendor equipment, such as Cisco.

Proven technical skills in the area of TCP/IP, Frame Relay, MPLS, OSPF, BGP, VPN Multicast, Cisco Routers and Switches.
Extensive knowledge of leading vendor equipment such as Cisco Routers and Switches. Experience with Cisco 2800, 3800, 7200 Routers and Cisco 3500, 4500 and 6500 Switches.
Other desirable skills would include, experience with VOIP, Multicast, Content Networking, Firewalls and VPNs.
Working knowledge of the NetScout Probe analyzer. Capable of analyzing data packets to assist in network troubleshooting.
Strong organizational skills and the ability to provide detailed status updates to management.

Strong interpersonal skills required in order to work closely with staff management, including all levels of users within the Cable Division, vendors and members of the IT Support Team.df-tc
