8+ years WAN/LAN design and implementation
8+ years expertise on all major Cisco routing and switching hardware platforms but especially Catalyst 6500 Switches and Cisco 7600 series Routers
5+ years experience with network security/Firewalls:
CheckPoint M-8, CrossBeam X80, Nokia
5+ years experience with VPN/NAT
5+ years experience with load balancing: F5 8800 (BigIP)
Expertise in routing and switching protocols including:
OSPF, BGP, ISIS, EIGRP
Expert in Cisco IOS troubleshooting
CCIE level skills required, but the certification is not mandatory.
Experience with Network Management Tools
Opsware NAS, Solsoft, NetQoS, Wireshark
2+ years MPLS experience a plus
2+ years VoIP experience a plus- protocols, IP telephony
2+ years wireless data experience- design and implement nice to have, not required
As the individual will often be acting in a consulting role and as a technical advisor, consulting experience is highly recommended.
Ability to articulate multi-tier application architectures including:
Familiarity with infrastructure hardware such as layer-7 switches, load balancers, and SSL accelerators.
Use of the concepts of highly-available systems, clustering, and hot-cold versus hot-hot failover.
Understanding of capacity planning and vertical vs. horizontal scalability.
Identification of different architectural options and their associated trade-offs.
Ability articulate solutions to such diverse constituencies as project managers, clients, business stakeholders and engineers.
The ability to quickly understand and be able to articulate business impacts of technical decisions and drive solutions to specific business problems through the effective use of technology.
Possesses comprehensive technical knowledge and organizational skills to oversee, coordinate, and participate in highly complex projects with high visibility and high impact on the business.
Ability to prepare technical reports, client presentations, design documentation, and manuals.
