Job Description
SD3 is seeking a Senior Systems Engineer with a financial services background. This is a permanent opportunity with an SD3 client located in Chicago. The Senior Systems Engineer will serve as a primary resource for the client's most complex technical issues and projects. A Senior Systems Engineer will learn our client's methodology for delivering outstanding technology service, and will support our client by refining that methodology to continually improve our technical consulting projects and/or support work. A Senior Systems Engineer will work to further develop their technical skills, along with business knowledge and consulting skills.

Key Responsibilities

• Assisting project leadership in completing project tasks and applying technology to client business issues, such as: specialized Windows/Linux/Storage systems design and implementation, new trading firm build-outs, performance tuning, and best practice reviews.
• Serving as a key resource for other consultants in solving complex technical issues.
• Mentoring junior consultants and developing internal processes and knowledge to advance the technical level of the client.
• Researching new technology and analysing risks and benefits of applying that technology within our clients mission-critical environments.
• Working with internal teams to design and package offerings applicable to the financial industry.
• Serving as a lead architect for enterprise-level designs for our institutional networking clients.

Key Requirements - most but not all required

• Possess a Bachelor's or Master's degree
• Detailed knowledge of and at least 5 years experience with design, configuration, maintenance, and troubleshooting for most of the following:
  • Microsoft Windows Server technologies
  • Microsoft Windows desktop technologies
  • One or more variants of Linux/Unix/Solaris
  • SAN storage technologies
• Previous consulting experience
• Networking experience (CCNA level or above)
• Financial industry experience
• Experience with a wide variety of technologies
• Citrix
• Enterprise backup solutions
• Virtualization technologies
• High performance computing
• Microsoft Exchange
• Microsoft SQL Server
• A wide variety of industry-respected certifications and supporting skills such as:
  • Microsoft MCSE/MCITP or above
  • Cisco CCNA or above
  • EMC Expert or above
• High comfort level working in an intense environment
• Excellent interpersonal and client facing skills
• Ability to adapt work habits to a specified methodology
• High attention to detail
