Senior Oracle DBA

The principle objective of this position is to provide 24/7/365 primary support of all Oracle RAC & standalone databases and related systems for the Equities business in North America . This position will also provide backup support of all Microsoft SQL Server clustered and non clustered databases for the Equities business in North America as well as all Sybase ASE databases and Rep Servers for the Equities business in North America .

Responsibilities will include the following:

• Lead database development, tuning and optimization expertise to application development and support teams on an ah-hoc or continual basis.
• Proactively monitor all database systems utilizing vendor supplied and standard tools.
• Maintain complete inventory and documentation of deployed systems.
• Work with the iMage package development & deployment team to develop database client software install and upgrade packages.
• Work within the project management framework defined for Equities IT Production North America.
• Cross train members of the Database team in all responsibilities and maintain a daily and weekly rotation schedule for these.
• Liaise with Equities application and business clients to gather requirements, design and deploy standard systems which clearly differentiate between production, development, UAT, and DR.
• Identify operational and infrastructure risks within the environment and work with the application development team and Equities business to make corrections and mitigate risks.
• Ensure that all systems are backed up and monitored according to the business requirements and notify the data owners when there are failures.
• Ensure optimal resilience of deployed systems and meet all disaster recovery and compliance requirements dictated by the business.
• Maintain top-notch technical skills and Equities business knowledge through proactive self-learning in addition to any formal instructor-led training provided.
• Interface with external vendors in troubleshooting complex, cross-platform issues.
• Provide comprehensive cross-training for Equities engineers and support personnel on front-line database client troubleshooting and support.

Job Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in Information Technology or related area

• Expert knowledge of Oracle database administration with 5 years+ as Oracle DBA in a production environment
• 7 years+ Oracle experience
• Oracle 9i+ Certified Professional required
• Expert in building/administering Oracle RAC 10g on Linux or Solaris SPARC/x64 in a SAN environment using Oracle Clusterware and ASM
• Oracle Data Warehousing, Partitioning implementation, ETL Scripting and experience with large databases (250 GB plus).
• Solid experience in deploying Oracle Data Guard, Grid Control, RMAN, Streams
• Strong and Proven Oracle troubleshooting, DB and query optimization and recovery skills
• Strong Unix experience (SysAdmin experienace would be a plus), Programming & Shell/Perl Scripting skills
• Oracle Application Server 10g installation & administration, w/focus on OID and OEM GridControl
• Oracle Development Experience, strong Sql, PlSql skills
• SQL Server administration and/or development experience will be a plus
• Sybase ASE , RepServer,IQ administration and/or development experience will be a plus
• Ability to interface with users at all levels of the organization and good end-user support skills.
• Must be well-organized, responsible, work effectively in a project management framework, have good verbal and written communication skills, and able to multitask in a dynamic trading environment.
• Ability to perform 7 x 24 hour support on a rotation basis and wear a pager and/or blackberry device.
