Description
Our client is a world leader in the financial services industry, serving millions of customers daily. They are seeking a Senior Oracle DBA to be a part of an application development/support team. In this role, you will be responsible for 'mission-critical' applications. As part of our client's Enterprise Applications team, you will be responsible for the business configuration of the Oracle Financials applications.

Your Role
  • Be responsible for performance of IT applications and related databases in support of major business-critical applications.
  • Ensure that application system design and database design support business owner performance criteria.
  • Perform enhancements and improvements to the Oracle Financials current implementation (AR, AP, GL, FA, etc.)
  • Coach application developers and database administrators in performance design criteria.
  • Validate that performance design criteria are physically implemented.
  • Plan and conduct unit, system, acceptance, integration, and performance testing.
  • Monitor system performance, identify bottlenecks, and ensure problem resolution.
  • Lead cross-functional teams in resolution of performance problems.

    Qualifications
  • Demonstrated success in Oracle performance design and tuning.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of database design criteria.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of AIX/UNIX/Solaris operating system, utilities, memory, management, security and devices.
  • Demonstrated ability to isolate and diagnose IT system performance from end-user workstation layer through database layer and back to end-user. (Includes but not limited to workstation, network, server and database components.)
  • Working knowledge of design and performance of one or more major IT application system types. (Includes but not limited to Data Warehouse, Web, OLTP, OLAP, routers, and middleware.)
  • Demonstrated ability to work with team members from various IT functions.
  • Ability to communicate and motivate team members possessing various skill sets.
  • Demonstrated ability to plan and manage performance evaluation phases of IT system development and support projects.
  • Demonstrated strong organizational and communication skills in supporting multiple projects.

    Required Technical Skills and Experience
  • 10+ years in Information Technology experience.
  • 5+ years as an Oracle Database Administrator, experienced in v9i, v8x.
  • 2+ years tuning performance of large-scale IT applications and databases using SQL and PL/SQL.
  • Exceptional oral and written communication skills and strong presentation skills.

    Desired Skills and Knowledge
  • Experience with other RDBMS (such as SQL Server a plus).
  • Experience with Hyperion Essbase.
  • MS Office, Lotus Notes, Visio, automated testing tools, Case tools, Oracle Designer.
  • Consumer Industry experience.
  • Ability to create, document, and implement repeatable processes.
  • JAD facilitation.
  • Ability to efficiently manage multiple tasks.
  • Work with a diverse group including users, developers, etc.
  • Work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Establish, follow, and enforce documentation standards.
  • Capable of being both an individual contributor and working as part of a team.
  • Proactive personality with a proven track record of delivering on responsibilities and tasks.
  • Highly adaptive with an ability to organize, coordinate, and execute on details.
  • Willingness to work in a team environment and in a proactive manner.

    Education / Certification Requirements
    Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Information Systems, Computer Information Systems, or Business Administration. Computer Sciences, a related field, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
