Position Details
The Software Engineer for Oracle Retail Merchandising will analyzes, designs, develops, tests, debugs and implements systems components, software tools, applications and utilities. The chosen candidate confers with supervisor on unusual or conflicting matters. You will coordinate with users to determine requirements. You will review systems under development and related documentation. Makes modifications to existing software to fit specialized needs and configurations, and maintains program libraries and technical documentation. May coordinate activities of the project team and assist in monitoring project schedules and costs. Assignments are broad in nature with latitude for un-reviewed action or decision.

Additional Function for Senior level
As an expert in systems software engineering, undertakes complex projects requiring additional specialized technical knowledge. Makes well-thought-out decisions on complex or ambiguous systems software engineering issues. Handles conflicting direction and resolves conflict to proceed. Ensures that system improvements are successfully implemented and monitored to increase efficiency. Makes complex modifications to existing software to fit specialized needs and configurations. Establishes and communicates common goal and direction for team. Acts as a source of direction, training and guidance for less experienced staff. Monitors project schedules and costs. Plans, conducts and supervises assignments. Reviews progress and evaluates results. Recommends changes in procedures. Reviews progress with management. Operates with substantial latitude for un-reviewed action or decision.

Experience/Skills
Bachelor-s degree in Computer Science, a related discipline or 1 - 5 years relevant work experience
Experience in retail merchandising and supply chain organizations a plus.
Experience with Oracle Retail Merchandising (Retek) is a very strong plus.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, strong customer focus and demonstrated ability to work in geographically dispersed teams
Ability to manage competing priorities
Must have strong computer skills and be proficient in use of Microsoft Office applications
Has basic knowledge of programming languages, tools and utilities with emphasis on PL/SQL, SQL, UNIX shell scripting, JAVA, XML, HTML and Oracle Forms
Has basic knowledge of programming languages, tools and utilities
Has basic knowledge of DBMS
Possesses fundamental knowledge of program design, coding, testing and documentation
Has a basic concept of business functions
Knows fundamental concepts, practices and procedures of particular field of specialization

Additional Requirements for Senior Level
Preferred 4-8 years relevant work experience
