Description
The ideal candidate will perform a wide range of technical activities in support of pre-production and production environment builds and maintenance. Will map technical requirements to application environment and infrastructure requirements, coordinate equipment sizing and acquisition, coordinate application environment build-out and support and maintain all pre-production environments - development, QA, UAT, and training environments.

Install and configure application software, coordinate R&D activities for all vendor supported applications to asses conformity with set Standards & determine fit into the target application architecture and perform environment operational testing.

Will coordinate system administration tasks - setting up new UNIX accounts, monitoring file system utilization, DNS changes, setting up scheduled jobs and manage application security for pre-production environments. Will provide migration services - manage code migration from development to other environments, develop and implement code packaging and deployment procedures.

Will support development efforts that include standards review to ensure development work adheres to set standards, perform consultation services to assist developers debug code, monitor application performance and make recommendations for performance improvement. Provide automated alternatives to repetitive manual processes by creating scripts for installs, job monitoring, code drops, & backup or replication jobs.

Work and coordinate with other support groups throughout the development life cycle to ensure a smooth transition to go-live including roll-out of initial production environment, engagement of local or national IT Security to build profiles for production roll-out and transition of all production activities to production support groups. Will do knowledge transfer to his peer identified as his/her backup.

Technical Requirements:The ideal candidate will have five-ten years' experience in supporting UNIX and/or Wintel based applications. Experience with Microsoft Windows 2000 OS, AIX platform, scripting experience to automate tasks, basic networking, Server, workstation administration, hardware configuration, & support. Good understanding of database and web technology.

Experience with Oracle or DB2 database is plus. Working knowledge of software applications including but not limited to MS Project, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, & Visio. Business Requirements: Must have good analytical skills and ability to effectively communicate with clients. Must be able to work through solutions and ideas with multiple departments and may be required to present to group suggested ideas.

Perform all environment build tasks - install, configuration and documentation in accordance with industry best practices and specific internal procedures and standards. Bachelor's degree/or equivalent exp., in Computer Science or a related discipline.
