Description
We have a need for a Sr. Programmer/Analyst to support legacy mainframe applications. The individual will work with a distributed team (onsite & offshore) to provide maintenance, enhancements and development support for the various IBM mainframe applications as well as provide 24 X 7 on-call support.

Responsibilities:
. Provide 24 x 7 on-call technical support for the mainframe applications with interfaces to web / n-tier applications.
. Manage and work on multiple tasks & projects.
. Perform initial design, high level design, initial analysis and such tasks on the various projects and problems to be packaged and sent offshore for development / coding / testing.
. Support the offshore team by providing quick clarifications and other information required by them to complete the tasks assigned to them.
. Maintain the service level goals set for the various support tasks.
. Analyze and provide regular feedback on improving application efficiency and processes.
. Perform SDLC phases including requirements gathering, functional design, technical design, construction, system / user acceptance testing and maintenance of applications on the IBM mainframe environment.
. Build good team atmosphere by developing positive working relationships with onsite and offshore team members, client and other functional areas.
. Provide client interface.
. Work with Business Services group and other technical staff to define requirements.
. Be available for off-hour conference calls with offshore team due to time differences as and when needed.
. Provide status reports and other metrics to the project manager.

Skills Requirements:

. Five to Eight years of experience in application design, development and maintenance support in an IBM mainframe legacy environment with extensive experience in COBOL, CICS, DB2, JCL, MQ Series (EDI desirable) and MVS tools (ISPF, CLIST/REXX etc).
. Excellent working knowledge of SYNCSORT, ENDEVOR or any Configuration management system (BMC Utilities knowledge desirable).
. Bachelors degree in Computer Science or related field.
. Experience in providing on-call support for tier-1 and tier-2 type applications.
. Strong experience in providing maintenance and enhancement support using onsite-offshore model.
. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, self-starter; driven to accomplish tasks with little supervision.
. Strong written and verbal communication skills.
. Experience in designing and developing mainframe applications with interfaces to mid-range (Java/ J2EE / Solaris environment).
. Experience in working in a large team atmosphere. Team oriented with strong interpersonal skills.

Desirable:
. Strong knowledge of EDI or Messaging applications.
. Logistics/transportation industry experience a plus.
. Other knowledge or demonstrated skills in Assembler programming, MVS Internals, and CICS Internals, CICS-Web interface is a plus.
. Some experience in object oriented programming / design preferably in Java/J2EE/Oracle environment.
. Knowledge of SAS.
