Description
Senior project managers are responsible for successful project coordination and management, including on-time/on-budget management of multiple large-scale IT projects. Candidates must have a thorough understanding of Project Management concepts and techniques and should have the skills to evaluate project feasibility, establish priority, and define, plan and execute the activities necessary to reach the project objectives. This role will serve as organizer, facilitator, planner, analyst, and problem solver. Excellent management skills and the ability to promote a team environment are essential, as are outstanding communication and interpersonal skills. The ability to work effectively in a fluid, fast-paced environment is critical.


Responsibilities (include but not limited to):

Work closely with business owners and IT staff to rationalize business requirements and facilitate successful implementation
Effectively communicate project status to management and keep business stakeholders informed of project status and all related issues
Manage and control changes in project scope while communicating impact to management and team
Identify, communicate and manage risks that may interfere with project execution or success
Maintain a working knowledge of applications, product suites, customers, and reporting capabilities
Manage team workload, assist with the definition and prioritization of upcoming projects, define appropriate staffing, and develop and manage project budgets
Continuously monitor project progress and proactively work to identify and resolve issues
Ensure appropriate project documentation is produced
Develop and mentor a team consisting of business and matrix resources
Assist in the prioritization and planning aspects of demand management
Manage the activities of less senior project managers
Manage relationships with areas of the company for various applications
Manage multiple projects
Manage vendor relationships as needed for projects
Bachelor's degree in technical, business, or management discipline; or equivalent professional experience
Minimum 10 years IT experience
Minimum 5-7 years of project management experience in delivering [DESCRIPTION) solutions; experience must cover the full life cycle of application development (discovery, design, development, delivery and post-delivery support)
5-7 years managing and directing employees, contractors and consultants in a project team setting, including analysts, database administrators, quality assurance analysts, support analysts, and application developers
Demonstrated experience in organizing, prioritizing, and coordinating complex team efforts
Experience in writing and managing business specifications, technical specifications, project plans, and other project documentation
Excellent people, teamwork skills, and customer service
