Sr. SQL Server DBA

POSITION SUMMARY STATEMENT:
Provides 24x7 database and production support for all SQL Sever Databases ensuring their database integrity, security and availability. This includes but is not limited to the following activities:

* *Provide Level III support and prompt resolution of Production issues.
* *Perform system monitoring, backups and restores, proactive database maintenance, database tuning and application of software patches.
* *Provide technical assistance and leadership to developers and DBAs in SQL statement creation and optimization.
* Maintain and troubleshoot T-SQL, DTS packages and Functions and other SQL language related activities.
* Design database structure layouts (physical and logical).
* Develop database specifications, documentation.
* Lead database centric projects and the database aspect of larger projects.
* Responsible for assisting with hardware sizing and procurement, software installations and upgrades.
* Proactively research and recommend database technology improvements.

This includes the following systems and any new ones that are to be developed:
* Internet (US e-commerce shopping sites, HAP Japan).
* Intranet (Support Magic, HWEB, Filenet).
* Phoenix Compensation System.
* BridgeWare.
* Business Intelligence.
* Enterprise Reporting.

TECHNICAL SKILLS/EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE :
* 10 years of database 24x7 support experience with in-depth experience in the following areas:
* 24x7 SQL Server monitoring, proactive and reactive maintenance
* Support of large enterprise-wide high availability databases and data warehouses (100 GB minimum).
* Backups/Restores from Tape and Disk media.
* Identify and resolve data related problems, e.g. data load script (DTS, MDX, BCP, stored procedures).
* Database tuning.
* Support for heterogeneous enterprise database architecture.
* System upgrades, capacity estimation.
* 7-10 years of OLTP and Batch oriented SQL with in-depth knowledge of relational database. Specifically:
* 7 years of combined experience with SQL Server 2000 and SQL Server 2005.
* 3-5 years of DTS.
* 2-5 years of MDX a strong plus.
* 5 years of designing relational database structure layouts (physical and logical).
* 10 years of SQL statement tuning.
* 2-3 years of data warehouse experience a strong plus, including:
* Experience with data acquisition/data loading tools and process.
* Experience with legacy system interfaces for data loading.
* Experience in designing (dimensional modeling, OLAP) data warehouses.
* Experience with front-end tools such as ProClarity Analytics, Crystal Analysis.
* Experience with MSMQ support.
* Experience with SQL Server clustering and replication.
* Hands-on experience and knowledge of RAID configurations. Knowledge of SAN arrays is a plus.
