Senior Software Architect
Position Profile
Team lead for the main group of architects and prototype developers within the Advanced Development Group. The Advanced Development group is responsible for researching, architecting, and prototyping next generation technologies. This position reports to the Chief Architect.
Position Description
The Senior Software Architect plays an active role in the advancement of our industry leading data protection solutions. Working along with our Engineering and Product Management teams, the successful candidate will define and execute architectural and software engineering activities within the company for expanding and enhancing our products and services.
Specific responsibilities include:
Interface with the senior management team and other stakeholders in order to understand the companys product needs.
Generate architectural requirements, based on the company's business requirements and other constraints such as cost and schedule.
Perform cost-benefit analyses to determine the best methods or approaches for meeting the product requirements; making maximum use of commercial off-the-shelf and existing components.
Develop robust software architectures that balance cost and flexibility.
Generate work products such as sketches, formal diagrams, executable models, and prototypes to keep the stakeholders and the engineers constantly up to date and in agreement on the system to be provided as it is evolving.
Work with the product management group to assist in the collection and documenting of detailed requirements.
Work with the engineering team to prepare high level architectural designs and associated documentation satisfying these requirements.
Participate in architectural review meetings and be prepared to defend design decisions.
Keep up to date on emerging technologies and ensure the best approach is undertaken for all architectural decisions.
Act as the technical resource for the engineering team providing guidance in architecture and global system view.
Position Requirements
The senior architect should be a generalist who can write code when necessary, and has experience with a broad range of technologies. The Senior Software Architect must be a leader with a track record of designing successful software systems.
Required Skills:
Bachelor degree in Computer Engineering or Computer Science or equivalent
10+ years professional software development experience
Experience with software architecture and UML (or other) modeling techniques
C++ programming experience
Object Oriented Programming and Design Patterns
Desired Skills:
Experience with agile development (e.g. Scrum)
An R&D background in software development
Knowledge of C#, Java, and/or web development technologies
Systems level knowledge of Windows, Linux, and/or Unix operating systems
Knowledge of security technologies
Experience with service oriented architectures
Experience with networking and protocols: VPNs, TCP/IP, HTTP, LAN technologies
Experience with storage technologies
Experience with database developmentdf-tc
