Sr. Business Intelligence Software Engineer

Disney Interactive Media Group (DIMG) is the division of The Walt Disney Company responsible for the creation and delivery of Disney branded interactive entertainment and informational content across multiple platforms including online, mobile and video game consoles around the globe.

DIMG oversees several lines of business. Disney Interactive Studios, which has five internal game development studios around the world, self publishes and distributes a broad portfolio of multi-platform video games, mobile games and interactive entertainment worldwide. Disney Online produces Disney.com, the No. 1 kids entertainment and family community Web site, for multiple platforms including PCs and mobile phones, as well as the Disney Family Network of Web sites for moms. Additionally, Disney Online develops and publishes an industry leading suite of online virtual worlds for kids and families. Disney Interactive Studios and Disney Online work together to leverage the platform-specific expertise of the collective group to create a line of interconnected, multiplatform interactive entertainment experiences. Disney Mobile Japan includes the Disney Mobile phone service as well as the region’s highly successful mobile content business. DIMG also develops new online technologies and distribution platforms and operates the online technical backbone and infrastructure that power the Web presence of The Walt Disney Company. POSITION SUMMARY

As a Sr. Software/BI Engineer in the Business Applications group, you will be responsible for the development and support of the associated BI systems and business applications.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Participates in designing and developing the architecture for all business intelligence solution components
  • Support the design of business intelligence application solutions including database design, ETL, report design and analytics integration
  • Participate in data warehouse analysis and design activities
  • Translates business requirements into functional application requirements and logical data model requirements
  • Performs source system analysis, identifies key data issues and performs data profiling
  • Maintain the staging and work tables associated with Data Warehouse development
  • Development of ETL process (e.g., SSIS, DataStage, Informatica) and implementing Data Warehouse
  • SiteMinder support and develop (JAVA, IDM)
  • Emphasis on communication and customer service
  • Ability to cross-train other developers on advanced SQL and Data Warehousing skills

    QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience
  • 8+ years of experience
  • Extensive experience on multiple full life cycle Data Warehouse implementations
  • Extensive experience in data warehousing, and business analytics development
  • Hands-on skills in data modeling; logical, physical and dimensional modeling (Embarcadero)
  • Extensive experience in metadata management and master data management preferred.
  • Successful experience working on complex data flow and processing and with large transactional and reporting databases
  • Hands-on design and development experience with leading BI tools such as MicroStrategy, Cognos, SAS, etc
  • 3+ years experience with MicroStrategy reporting and development
  • 5+ year experience with data warehouse and BI application development and implementation
  • Implementation and development experience with ETL concepts and tools such as: SSIS, Informatica and DataStage
  • Successful experience SiteMinder Development and Support (Java, IDM)
  • 5+ years of MS SQL 2005/2008 Server with SSAS, SSRS and SSIS
  • 5+ years data warehouse experience
  • 5+ years T-SQL
  • 2+ years Java Development

    SPECIFIC SKILLS REQUIRED

  • Implementation and development experience with one or more of the following BI/Enterprise Reporting tools: Cognos and MicroStrategy
  • 3+ years Reporting Tools (e.g., Cognos, MicroStrategy, Business Objects,etc.)
  • Hands-on experience with data integration tools such as Informatica, DataStage, etc.
  • Expert knowledge of Relational Databases (e.g., MS SQL Server, SQL, Stored Procedures)
  • Expertise and experience in the development and support of OLAP cubes, data mining and data analysis tools
  • Skilled in Data Warehouse, including logical and physical star schema data models, extraction/transformation of data
  • Skilled in SQL, Database and Transaction processing concepts, knowledge of query analysis tools and performance optimization of queries
  • Extensive ETL Design and Programming
  • Extensive T-SQL experience
  • Ability to produce details design documents
  • JavaScript experience a plus
  • .NET experience a plus
  • Cognos F&P (EP/TM1) a plus
  • Certifications (MicroStrategy) a plus
  • Clarity a plus (Object creation, interfaces, reports, process creation)
  • Strong written, documentation, and verbal skills
