John Deere Agricultural Equipment Des Moines is seeking a Senior Software & Controls Engineer to perform software/controls design, testing and/or analysis work for a complete project of broad scope or for a significant portion or a sub-system of a major and diverse project. In this position, you will:



Be responsible for developing and improving of embedded software associated with Self-Propelled Sprayers and their subsystems.
Design, analyze and enhance control systems features associated with Self-Propelled Sprayers and their subsystems.
Develop sprayer system requirements and detailed specifications derived from customer needs.
Perform design and analysis activities on new and existing software projects in accordance with established guidelines with respect to the performance, reliability, cost and configuration of these electrical systems.
Provide systems expertise in designing software and controls features by defining and meeting vehicle component interaction requirements.
Provide ownership in the specification, design, testing and implementation of embedded software and subsystems.
Assure appropriate engineering tools such as design analysis, simulation, design reviews and FMEAs are used to analyze components/systems.

Education

Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical, Computer or Systems Engineering or 7+ years of equivalent experience.
Masters Degree in Electrical, Computer or Systems Engineering, desired.
Required Skills and Experience

3+ years experience developing software for machine control applications.
Embedded software development experience using C language.
A good understanding of electronic hardware (schematics and component data sheets, operating meters, oscilloscopes and emulators) to design and verify embedded software and controls.
Excellent communication skills.
Self driven on software development projects.
Desired Skills and Experience

Familiarity of real-time software operating systems.
Design analysis experience using embedded software tools such as Matlab/Simulink.
Real-time software hardware-in-the-loop development.
Simulation skills to verify embedded software designs.
