JOB DESCRIPTION AND RESPONSIBILITIES Title: Senior Software Engineer I Summary The Software Engineer functions as a key member of the Development team for the assigned business unit. Duties involve aspects of design, engineering, and interaction with QA to implement commercial medical/dental software products. Responsibilities Engineer, code, and debug both new and legacy code Perform specific skills and competence in reference to research and analysis of technologies Derive and design technical specifications from general product requirements and specs Problem solving skills, diagnose, find, and test solutions Participate in coding and code reviews for final product Be accountable for agreed upon development schedule Assist in quality assurance measures (code reviews, unit and interaction test case creation, etc.). Assist User Documentation Specialist in assembling information for user documentation. Assist Technical Support and development team in solving programming-related problems. Participate in special projects and performs other duties as required. Education Bachelors degree in Computer Science field Requirements Minimum of 6-9 years of software engineering experience Production-level software product experience Proficient in object-oriented software languages/methods (preferably Java, C# , C++, Delphi) Proficient in object-oriented modeling languages (e.g. UML, OSA) Current on new technology and development techniques within the software industry Proficient with Relational Databases and SQL Database schema modeling and comprehension XML and XSLT experience Net or J2EE architecture skills Specific technologies and Domain experience Ability to understand legacy code, domain space and refactor to new code base Ability to handle frequent object model and database schema changes Good analytical/design skills at single product/environment level Skills in research/analysis, project planning/implementation Proficient PC skills with working knowledge of Window/Win 95/98/NT development Experience in leadership, training, mentoring, documentation, and customer-facing Innovation and IP experience Medical industry knowledge/experience in medical practice/medical practice software Dental industry knowledge/experience in dental practice/dental practice management software Experience with high tech hardware/integration/imaging knowledge; also x-ray certification. Proficient with web applications/design/electronic transmissions. Experience with enterprise applications/business management/general accounting principles. Advanced ability to implement from technical specifications Ability to create and perform unit tests Able to work with minimal supervision Ability to multi-task and work well under high pressure Good communication and interpersonal skills Ability to work well independently as well as in a team Preferred Team management skills desired In return, our client offers a generous compensation package and benefits.
