Senior Software Engineer - J2EELocation: Los Angeles, CAJob Description:The Senior Software Engineer is responsible for developing complex production software with increased responsibility for planning and implementation. The employee in this position gains progressive recognition as a specialist in a number of business focus areas and assumes increasing responsibility as the technical source to our business owners and advises on design and development approach. Able to act in a leadership role with creativity and ingenuity in selecting methods and techniques for software solutions. Normally receives no instruction on routine work and only general instructions on new assignments. Ability and strong desire to contribute as a team member in a team-centric environment.Essential Functions and Responsibilities* Wide experience in the analysis and conceptual design of projects, utilizing professional experience in the development of automated specifications, design parameters and alternative solutions. May lead or provide expertise to these design and analysis sessions* Assists or leads in determining the technical direction for implementation of projects* Plans, organizes and performs technical work. Coordinates design activity with other staff on technical aspects relating to the project* Acts as a senior source to test, design, and write code for production quality software* Maintains close liaison with other departments on technical matters and prototype designs and may work closely with customers on technical information or modifications related to design, development and research projects* Keeps technically abreast of trends and advancements within area of specialization, incorporating these improvements where applicable. Attends appropriate technical conferences* Provides technical direction and guidance to less senior staffKNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES:* Knowledge or exposure to modern Agile methodologies such as SCRUM, FDD and XP* Solid experience and ability with Java and the use of a dynamic scripting language such as JavaScript, Perl, Ruby or Groovy* Knowledge of standard J2EE technologies (JSP, Servlets, JMS, etc.)* Knowledge and experience with Internet technologies and protocols (e.g. HTML, XML, TCP/IP, HTTP, FTP and SMTP)* Expertise in OOAD principles and methodologies* Experience/exposure to Test Driven Development and Simple Design* Exposure to and desire to work in, a strong team-based environment* Knowledge and experience with MVC frameworks and familiarity with different view technologies (JSP, JSF, Velocity) highly desired* Exposure to Spring (or other lightweight container)* Exposure to Hibernate or other ORM tool* Knowledge and experience with unit testing practices desired* Knowledge and experience with relational database technologies (SQL, schema design)* Expertise with more advanced programming environments and concepts highly desired (e.g. J2EE, multi-threaded programming)* Wide experience with code control system and build tools (Maven/Ant)* Solid understanding of design patterns (Gang of Four)Keywords: java, j2ee, hibernate, spring, junit, java, j2ee, hibernate, spring, junit, java, j2ee, hibernate, spring, junit Required Education and Experience* Bachelor's of Science degree or equivalent in computer science, electrical engineering, or related field is preferred.* A minimum of 5 - 7 years of directly related work experiencedf-tc
