Description
This position conducts the validation and verification of department standard of newly developed software to ensure the delivery of useable, stable software solutions with minimum defects. Also, may act in a project technical lead capacity.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Participates in verification reviews and/or meetings to evaluate documents, plans, code, requirements and specifications.
Assists in defining systems design requirements to ensure quality products.
Determines application test cycles and coordinates testing effort.
Conducts tests to validate that functionality and usability are consistent with specifications.
Tests systems for functionality, accuracy, and adherence to specifications by performing systems integration, interface and regression testing.
Develops, maintains, executes, and validates test plans and test cases to ensure quality of software solutions, including Production rollouts.
Reports testing discrepancies and follows through to ensure that all issues are resolved.
Reports project daily status to the development and business unit.
Assists developers in identifying program and /or system errors.
Works closely with Sr. Developer or Development Lead during test cycles.
Identifies potential design flaws and refers to application team for resolution.
Develops test control databases while maintaining to ensure their integrity and currency.
Mentors other quality analysts in scripting automated testing and acts in a project lead role.
Researches tools, methods, technology trends and /or vendors. Provides usability feedback in all products.

SKILLS / KNOWLEDGE REQUIREMENTS:
Project management skills to include creation and understanding of metrics.
The ability to function well in a fast-paced environment.
Strong analytical skills and the ability to move easily between varied tasks.
Must have excellent problem solving skills and be capable of breaking down complex situations to discover and resolve root causes. This applies to both technical issues and process issues.
Ability to identify and communicate issues/risks applying technical and root cause analysis skills.
The ability to define UAT (User Acceptance Test) criteria.
Advanced understanding of testing procedures and processes.
Solid working knowledge of quality assurance methodologies.
Solid understanding of testing procedures. Must have experience in functional testing, incremental integration testing, unit testing, regression testing, and acceptance testing.
Experience writing test cases, creating bug reports, executing and tracking testing assignments.
Experience in data validation and cross-system integration.
Experience in Web-based software testing process and procedures.
Experience in Black Box Testing, White Box Testing, Load/Stress Testing, Recovery and Security testing preferred.
Experience with Software Bug Tracking system.
Solid experience with Mercury's TestDirector and QuickTest Professional.
Solid working knowledge of the development, test, release and support processes.
