Senior Software Systems Engineer
Key Functions
The candidate will play a trusted role in advising government program office leaders in the Direct Reporting Program Manager for Advanced Amphibious Assault (DRPM AAA) on a variety of issues concerning the acquisition and development of a software intensive system for the USMC Expeditionary Fighting Vehicle. The role is to be performed on site at the DRPM AAA offices in Woodbridge, VA and will vary from strategic software and system planning analysis to the tactical execution of the program. The exact aspects of the software that will be examined will vary by the life-cycle situation of the program, but will include requirements, system design, and code for a near real-time weapons system. The candidate can expect to work across the entire system/software life-cycle. As a member of the Software Engineering and Computing Department the candidate will also be expected to become a leader in software engineering technology for the entire corporation.
Required Education/Experience:
BS or equivalent and 5 years of related experience or MS or equivalent and 3 years of related experience or PhD and 1 year of related experience
Desired Education/Experience
B.S. or M.S. in Computer Science, Software Engineering or equivalent technical discipline, with 5 or more years experience in engineering software-intensive mission critical systems and complex Information Systems.
Required Skills:
Broad software engineering skills with experience in all areas of the system/software development life cycle. Ability to perform software engineering analyses and assessments on software products and processes.
Desired Skills
Detailed expertise in one or more of the following. Ability to perform software engineering analyses, particularly quality assessments of software products including source code in C, C++, and Java. Analysis and design of system and software architectures. Experience conducting requirements/gap analyses, system/software tests, and technical reviews. Analysis, design, and modeling of critical aspects of distributed, real-time and non-real-time C2/C4I/other systems. Working knowledge of various software lifecycles (waterfall, iterative, evolutionary, spiral, agile) and development methodologies (Structured, Object-Oriented, Service-Oriented). Experience interacting with (briefing, advising) senior-level customers is a plus.
