Description
The Critical Situation Specialist is primarily focused on facilitating escalated Emergency Operations Bridges based on escalations from the Director, Enterprise Availability, or the Emergency Response Leadership team. The coordination efforts may require a combination of support from Technology vendors, and direct or vendor Business partners for supported business critical portfolios and business units. Critical Situation Specialists leverage a variety of industry and proprietary tools for performing escalation paging, coordinating leadership escalation, documenting bridge activities, and publishing post-incident reports (Corrective Action Reviews or CARs).

The ideal candidate would be classified as ''cool, calm & collected'' during a crisis. Ability to communicate effectively with all levels (Executive to analyst) is a must. As a leader within the Information Technology Emergency Operations Center, The Critical Situation Specialist will manage events, communications and recovery efforts for critical outages.
Job Responsibilities
Process Management (30% of time)
  • Manages and drives changes to the Incident, Problem & Emergency Management Policy & procedures.
  • Creation and maintenance of recovery ''play books'' for key systems/facilities.
  • Support the accurate and consistent maintenance of technical and leadership escalation routines through regular audits and continuous validation during remediation efforts
    Project Management (10% of time)
  • Manage technical projects as assigned

    Emergency Management (60% of time)
  • Drive the Corrective Action Review (CAR) process
    o Investigations
    o Documentation
    o Operationalize the CAR process (Share point, reports)
    o Follow up & close out

  • Manage critical situations
  • Organize “on-call” program

  • Manage the Emergency Mgt process
    o Program Mgt
    o Training
    o Emergency Communications
    o Tools (maintenance/evaluation/deployment)
    o Coordination of Emergency Operations Bridges for Disney, integrating suppliers, Business Units and others as necessary.

  • Member of IT EOC team (on-call required)
    Qualifications
  • Strong Problem/Incident/Recovery Management foundation
  • Strong technical expertise (including, but not limited to Mainframe, Distributed, Web, Network, Application)
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong presentation skills mandatory,
  • Strong facilitation skills across support teams,
  • Ability to work and coordinate priorities well under pressure,
  • Ability to think creatively and multi-task
  • Must be a self-starter, with the ability to work independently with minimal, high-level direction
  • Command & control expertise
  • Project Management of virtual teams
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science/Information Technology or equivalent preferred, work experience with Industry certifications.
  • Certified Business Continuity Planner (DRII), Certified Emergency Manager or equivalent certification
  • ITIL certifications a plus
  • PMI certification a plus
