Description
Robert Half Technology is searching for a Senior Systems Administrator with 5+ years of experience for a long term contract to full time opportunity! The Senior Systems Administrator must have 5-7 years experience with Veritas Netbackup and other similar enterprise backup technologies including scoping, planning, installation, migration, etc. Knowledge of sizing and integration experience of Enterprise Tape Subsystems and libraries into heterogeneous server/storage environments is a must! The responsibilities will included but are not limited to: * Setup and configure Netbackup server/client and tape libraries * Monitor daily Netbackup activity and reporting to proactively avoid issues * Modify and optimize backup schedules * Improve automation and productivity of backups through scripting enhancements * Troubleshoot and resolve missed and failed Netbackup backups * Interface with vendors for escalation of issues * Processing of tapes for offsite storage * Update Netbackup policies and procedures * Provide on-call support

Experience/Skills
Requirements: * Minimum of 3 years experience with Veritas Netbackup Datacenter in a large multi-platform environment. Use of the Shared Storage Option is also preferred. * Proficient with Netbackup GUI and command line utilities. Proficient in shell or Perl programming and scripting. * Proficient in configuration of fiber-based tape and disk infrastructure consisting of STK SL500 & STK L700 tape library, CDL (Clariion Disk Library), Brocade/Cisco switch infrastructure, and disk subsystems from EMC. * Extensive experience and strong understanding of Storage Area Networking (SAN) technology, including storage provisioning, LUN management, zoning, performance management, and volume management. * Experience and understanding of snapshot and data replication technologies * Experience with support, troubleshooting, and problem resolution for tape backup and SAN environments. * Experience and strong knowledge of Unix (SUN, AIX, Linux) and Windows is preferred. * MS Exchange experience (as it relates to Veritas Backup) is preferred. * Knowledge of the following databases, as they related to Veritas Backup is preferred (SQLServer & Oracle). *scripting specific to bpstart_notify and bpend_notify scripts to be executed pre/post backup. (this is kinda already covered, don’t know if this is TOO specific) *experience with Netbackup in a clustered master server environment. *knowledge of Veritas VCS and Veritas Volume manager to manage and support NB *experience with Netbackup patch maintenance (w/ clustered master server). *experience with Netbackup in a multi-homed environment. * knowledge of Solaris 9 vs. Solaris 10 service management.
