Applicant will be responsible for supporting our rapidly growing 1000+ linux node production environment. Ideal candidate must have 4 - 6 years experience, 24/7 on-call experience, and should be able to hit the ground running day one. Experience working in large storage environments running on a combination of DAS/NAS/SAN devices. Solid understanding of various linux distributions, FreeBSD, and Solaris. Responsibilities„X Maintain and support large NFS farms. „X Maintain and manage over 4 PBs of storage. „X Support systems in both our production and development environments. „X Work with a team to automate management tasks, streamline processes and perform standard administration functions as needed. Team coverage include rotating pager duties and responding within 15 minutes for providing high service supporting 24/7 365 as needed. „X Monitor system performance, make recommendations to improve and implement system wide changes to enhance overall system proficiency. „X Automate and script system administration tasks, monitor and create daily reports on system activities. „X Create test plans for newly developed areas within our system. „X Must provide high-level system support managing disk volumes using Veritas Volume Manager running Oracle 8i and 9i. Provide expert level knowledge of file system/volume management and clustering in both a Solaris and Linux environment. „X Work with Network Administrator to troubleshoot and correct network issues. „X Monitor network availability and performance. „X Assist in formulating security mechanisms to prevent, detect, and respond to internal and external security threats. „X Assist in creating and maintaining Disaster Recovery Plans. Experience/Skills
Qualifications„X Must have a superior understanding of RedHat 7 through Enterprise 4, SLES9/10 is a plus. „X Familiarity with kernel / performance tuning, active use of compilers, tools, techniques, etc „X Experience with the implementation, and maintenance of kickstart/jumstart servers as well as application repositories. „X Experience with Network Appliance, SAN attached arrays, clustered file systems, Brocade fiberchannel switches, and large-scale storage systems a plus. „X Superior understanding of RAID technology, storage management tools, high availability storage systems, able to differentiate between IO workloads/patterns. „X Understanding of SnapMirror, SnapVault, Cluster Failover, and other management tools to provide high availability and data protection. „X Experience with Veritas Volume Manager Version 3 and 4, Cluster Server, and Foundation Suite. NetBackup a plus. „X In depth knowledge of NFS. Working knowledge of am-utils and automounter is a plus. „X Knowledge of both NAS and SAN technologies. „X Knowledge of TCP/IP, NAT, various routing protocols, STP, DSR, NPATH. „X Clear understanding of storage subsystems and protocols: FC, SCSI, SATA, SAS, iSCSI, etc. „X Experience working in large load balanced environments. „X Experience with apache/tomcat. „X Working knowledge of mail servers. „X Experience with a variety of opensource software. nagios, mrtg, mon, cricket, snort, cfengine, etc. rrd is a plus. „X Strong scripting skills (perl, csh, bash, ksh). „X Working in a multi-datacenter environment is a plus. „X Understanding of various server architectures and hardware.
