Senior Systems AdministratorLocation: Emeryville, CAJob Description:Responsibilities:Install, configure, maintain and upgrade Red Hat Linux servers version 3,4, and 5.* Install, configure and maintain VmWare ESX servers.* Troubleshoot server including resolving hardware, backup, storage and performance issues.* Demonstrate independent problem solving abilities and initiative by escalating properly.* Monitor all systems and implement best practices and procedures (with Nimbus monitoring system) to minimize risk, outages and data loss.* Perform daily operational maintenance activities within Change Management procedures.* Be familiar with IP networking including DNS, DHCP, routers, switches, firewall.* Be familiar with SAN storage (fabric, zone, volumes and LUN concepts) as well as NFS and iSCSI storage* Be familiar with Netbackup technology and practices and VmWare.* Documents system configurations and maintains Operational documentation. * Manage operations interface with key vendor service providers* Be part of a 24x7 on-call rotational support of production systems and services.Requirements:* Experience: 5-10 Years experience* 3 year experience with designing, implementing, configuring, administering, and troubleshooting mission-critical, 24x7x365 environments with Linux, VmWare, Network and Storage systems* Understanding and ability to modify startup scripts, and ports and services.* Knowledge of protocols such as TCP/IP, NFS, SSH, HTTP, FTP, DNS, SNMP, Samba, and DHCP* Experience with standard UNIX utilities, applications, & scripting (e.g., cron, shell, perl, CVS, etc)* Experience with EMC Clariion and Celerra platform and data replication or other vendors* Familiarity with Oracle, MySQL,* Strong inter-personal and excellent written and verbal communication skillsdf-tc
