PRIMARY PURPOSE OF THE POSITION

Playing a major role in the implementation and support of Intel/AMD based server systems, the Sr. NT Systems Administrator provides technical leadership and advanced administrative and business knowledge to ensure reliable service delivery and service support to our customers. The position has responsibility for the administration, maintenance, and support of servers running current and future versions of Windows operation systems as well as technical guidance to junior staff.

PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES

*Administers current and future versions of Microsoft Windows servers; installs, configures, and troubleshoots operating systems and related software to ensure application servers are built and maintained to meet business service levels.

*Works with various system administration teams across the enterprise to ensure efficient and effective delivery and support of Windows based services. Effectively coordinates server placements, storage, and network allocation; communicates project deadlines to ensure on time project delivery as necessary; enlists assistance of appropriate personnel in other teams to resolve issues as necessary.

*Performs routine operating system and hardware preventative maintenance based on hardware and Operating System best practices.

*Works to complete service requests and resolves incidents submitted through the Help Desk, Desktop Support, Application Management and other Global Business Solutions & Technology (GBS & T) departments.

*Performs routine capacity planning tasks for systems and services. Proactively monitors the environment. Generates reports showing the utilization of servers.

*Mentors and trains junior team members on the technical and procedural aspects of the environment.

*Documents server and application recovery processes and configurations to ensure recovery can meet recovery time objective.

QUALIFICATIONS

*College degree in computer science, business administration, or related technical field with 5-7 years of systems support work experience preferred
*Vendor Applications (e.g. SQL Server, Analysis Server, Tivoli, Business Objects, Sybase, Oracle, etc.), systems management software (MOM, HP Open View, BMC, SMS, etc.)
*Advanced degree or study preferred
*Experience with Microsoft’s ‘BackOffice’ platform (SQL Server, Exchange, Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, etc) and System Center products (Operations Manager [MOM], Configuration Manager [SMS], Virtual Machine Manager), and various scripting and reporting technologies preferred
*Supervisory and project management experience preferred
*Experience with Windows systems administration preferred
*Ability to write queries and administration scripts in languages like VBScript, TSQL, and Powershell
*Extensive systems implementation and administration experience
*Experience with server hardware (disk arrays, NAS, Blades, etc,)
*Experience with Windows Server 200/2003/2008, Exchange Server 2003/2007, Active Directory, and Blackberry Enterprise Server
*Understanding of High Availability/continuity technologies (e.g. Clustering, EMC SRDF, Neverfail)
*Extensive business operating knowledge
*Understanding of the dependencies of various platforms and their needs
*Understanding of project management and control
*Ability to communicate ideas and problem solutions
*Ability to effectively work with people in other departments and/or outside of the enterprise
*Strong written and verbal communication skills
*College degree and 2 years of related work experience, or Associate degree and 4 years related work experience, or High School diploma/equivalent and 6 years related work experience required
