Job Title: Senior System Engineer
Department: ITS
Location: Columbus
Reports To: Manager Systems Services, ITS
FLSA Status: Exempt
Hours: Full Time


Summary
This is a senior level technical role on the Server Team supporting infrastructure systems for all business segments. This position requires superior verbal, written, planning, technical, prioritization and project leadership skills. Additionally, there will be a need to fully understand the day-to-day ownership of the technologies associated with assigned responsibilities.

The main technical activities include system configuration, deployment, consolidation, support, training and performing security, audit and risk assessments. Primarily the role will focus on SAN and VMWare environments. This position will additionally play a critical role in scoping, recommending and building technical solutions on select enterprise systems projects. Long term success will be measured by providing our business partners with a reliable, cost effective and secure network and applications infrastructure that leverages enterprise best practices to support the growing needs of the business.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Implement, manage, maintain and monitor the SAN/NAS and VM infrastructure.

Monitor and maintain infrastructure hardware specifically firmware and bios updates (Dell and HP primarily)

Required Qualifications

Professional expert experience with SAN/NAS infrastructure (NetApp, Brocade primarily) and VM Ware

Systems Administration skills in current Windows and Unix environments (Windows 2003, Linux a plus)

Windows Active Directory in a multi-domain forest

Proven ability in System Management solutions

Experience with Virtualization tools and Backup Solutions

In-depth knowledge of internetworking protocols primarily TCP/IP

Recent experience with deployment and post implementation support

Change Management, Patch Management and Security methodologies experience

Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree is preferred. However, an associate’s degree with appropriate experience will be considered.

Education and/or Experience
Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university; and three to five years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. MCSE, CCNP or CCIE a plus.

Language Skills
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.

Mathematical Skills
Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.

Reasoning Ability
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

Computer Skills
To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Windows Operating systems, Remote Console, Internet software; Project Management software; Spreadsheet software and Word Processing software.
