Senior Systems Engineer

The Senior Systems Engineer for Messaging reports directly to the Manager of Technical Services and has overall responsibility for architecting, designing, planning, maintaining and coordinating activities of the messaging systems. As well has responsibilities supporting ancillary SQL systems for day to day operational procedures and effectiveness. They will work closely with team members of Technical Services, Application Services and Support Services in supporting the Messaging and Active Directory Systems. This role is a senior technical role and is expected to be a forward thinker in an enterprise environment bringing strong technical experience to the team, training others and learning new systems for support.

Responsibilities/Job Standards:

• Responsible for architectural design, planning, documentation, and management of projects involving messaging environments, Windows Active Directory, PKI, and domain security best practices.
• Responsible for administrating and coordinating the operation and maintenance of Exchange network messaging systems.
• Implements enhancements, systems updates and monitors systems performance.
• Resolves problems, provides support and identifies requirements and configuration requirements for client groups and remote locations.
• Perform systems configuration, software installation, technical support, standards definition, new features implementation, and systems utilization assessment to assist in troubleshooting and performance tuning.
• Provides day-to-day service management to ensure stability, availability and performance; designs and consults with operations teams regarding Active Directory (AD) designs and requirements.
• Assist in maintaining and configuration of enterprise directory services and supporting server infrastructure.
• Monitors, maintains, supports and upgrades system hardware and applications as well as resolves Tier 2 and 3 trouble tickets as related to messaging and system performance issues.
• Loads and supports applications including, but not limited to BlackBerry Enterprise Server, Outlook Web Access and MS ActiveSync, as well as manage anti-virus and spam filtering products.
• Works with network security and monitoring to ensure service/system security and makes recommendations for improvement.
• Assists in the creation of standard operating procedures pertaining to the operation and maintenance of the Exchange and Active Directory environment.
• Provides technical support in identifying, troubleshooting and resolving directory and network issues in order to minimize customer downtime performs performance trend analysis to predict and avoid future problems.
• Tests and deploys infrastructure changes to maintain efficiency, security and software levels.
• Manages and monitors domain operations.
• Participates in 24x7 operations support of production systems.

Requirements:

• BS Degree in Information Systems of related field
• 3-5 years experience implementing and managing enterprise systems
• Knowledge of Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, WINS, AD-Certificate Services, LDAP, Exchange 2007, Blackberry Enterprise Server.
• Experienced in designing and implementing multi-domain and/or multi-forest AD in a corporate environment.
• Excellent verbal and written communications skills. 
• Established strategic and critical analysis skills.
• Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships.
• Strong knowledge of: Windows 2003, DHCP, DNS, WINS and Active Directory Services (security, account provisioning, group policy Scripting and administration), Outlook & Exchange 2007,
• Understands load balancing, clustering, and caching procedures and processes.
• Experience installing, configuring, and maintaining all manners of server hardware and associated network equipment, including SCSI, RAID, and I/O topology.
• Experience with server performance tuning and monitoring tools.
• Familiarity with TCP/IP and other network protocols, and operating system configuration.
• Strong knowledge of Active Directory/Global Catalogue.

Preferred Requirements:

• Previous experience working in a healthcare related environment.
• Basic understanding of Citrix, SMS, SQL Server 2000/5, IIS, Proxy, VMWare ESX.
• Familiarity with storage technologies such as SAN or NAS.
