Specific Job Functions

• Maintain and monitor all development, QA, and production systems ensuring high levels of
  performance and data availability
• Develop and implement highly secure solutions to deliver courses and exams
• Supervise physical builds and OS installs for Servers
• Personally modify installed OS to maintain consistency over all Servers
• Install and maintain (via Service Packs and Hot Fixes) software on Servers in all environments
• Run performance statistics on the OS and to ensure processes are in control' and for capacity planning
• Diagnosis problems
• Coordinate backups with Operations to ensure recoverability
• Code systems related tools and services
• Provide input to the planning and budgeting process for the acquisition of hardware and software
• Work with technical peers and vendors to diagnose and resolve technical difficulties involving Servers
• Work with developers to support and improve the systems

Required

• 8-10 years of IT experience
• 3 to 5 years Windows Server experience
• 1-3 years Computer Operations
• Experience with backup & recovery, performance monitoring and tuning
• Familiar with disaster recovery, data replication, and other high-availability solutions
• Experience managing and prioritizing multiple tasks and providing timeline estimates

Nice to haves:

• Exposure to development languages, such as C# or VB
• Exposure to Cold Fusion
• Cisco networking certification
• Security certification

Essential Functions

• Creatively provide service and assistance to internal and external customers on server systems and network
• Interface with vendors concerning technical issues
• Diligently manage license to ensure that all hardware and software is licensed and maintained
• Establish working relationships throughout company and with external customers and vendors
• Work in an independent manner, but also closely with IT teams
• Prepare clear, concise, and unambiguous documentation
• Learn new concepts, processes, and technical knowledge quickly
• Define hardware replacement cycles and hardware specifications
• Manage hardware and software according to company standards
• Secure and patch Servers based on risk and vulnerability assessment
• Monitor and maintain assigned hardware and software
