Description
Prestigious Global Trading Firm, located in the Chicago Loop, is currently seeking a Sr. Network Engineer with strong Cisco Networking and trading/brokerage environment experience.

Responsibilities:
- Architect, implement, monitor, support and troubleshoot a global low-latency trading network including routers, switches, firewalls, and voice technologies.
- Maintain network security through proper configuration of firewalls, proxies, and VPN devices.
- Order and install exchange, WAN and Internet connectivity, as needed/approved.
- Achieve close to 100% uptime through good design, thorough monitoring, careful and consistent change management, and immediate response to any outage.
- Manage projects and deliver on time with periodic status reports to management.
- Work collaboratively with other members of the global systems team to achieve firm goals.
- Provide support off-hours and remotely when needed
- Maintain and improve systems documentation

Experience:
- Minimum 5 years supporting Cisco Routers and switches, including 6509.
- Minimum 5 years experience supporting WAN technology, preferably including exchange connectivity and global networks.
- Minimum one year experience supporting firewalls, preferably Cisco.
- Experience supporting trading networks strongly preferred.
- Cisco IP phone/Call Manager experience would be helpful

Knowledge:
-IP, TCP, UDP, ARP, DHCP, DNS, EIGRP, OSPF, PIM, and IGMP protocols
-Multicast design and troubleshooting
-Cisco Router and switch configuration and management skills
-Network monitoring including syslog and SNMP
-Troubleshoot network problems with protocol analyzer
-Basic knowledge of Windows and Linux
-Desktop productivity tools such as Excel and Visio

Education/Certifications:
-Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Engineering or a related field is required
-CCIE or strong CCNP preferreddf-tc
