Senior Database Application Architect and Database Administrator

Required Skills:
. Assume technical leadership role in efforts to enhance system availability
. Serves as a Subject Matter Expert for assigned databases
. Develop and implement data security guidelines while making data available to those authorized to have access;
. Ensure the technical integrity of our corporate databases by protecting against the loss or misuse of information and designing backup/recovery strategies
. Mentor DBAs to ensure efficient use of our data, DBMS and hardware resources through physical database design, monitoring, maintenance, and tuning.
. Mentor DBA staff in techniques to preserve/support audit and legal compliance
. Provides exceptional team leadership and role models the position for others
. Superior analytical skills, outstanding ability to trace problems back to origin and determine/document root cause; exceptional listening, and communication skills
. Works independently with no supervision and very little guidance required
. Determination to embrace and implement change for the benefit of the Enterprise - Has gained respect of and is relied upon by clients, peers, managers, project managers and executive management; an exceptional Team Player
. Provide Database Design, Implementation and Performance and Tuning Consulting services. This individual will have advanced expertise and skills in Large Scale Data Warehousing specifically related to DB2 UDB v8

. Successful at working with clients to understand the business needs and developing effective, scalable and maintainable database instances to meet the business requirement's deadlines & deliverables
. Large Scale, extremely complex projects
. Industry leading knowledge of DB2 UDB v8
. Expert working knowledge of the Physical Data Model Design and DDL
. Expert working knowledge of Data Warehousing, DB2 UDB v8 Clustered and non-Clustered
. Exceptional knowledge of design, implementation, of partitioning along with high availability and failover of datawarehousing DB2 UDB v8 instances.
. May require 7-12 years to accumulate necessary skills and experience

Specific tasks include:
. Provide DB2 UDB database application architectural and design on large database systems.
. Provide DB2 UDB v8 DPF design and implementation plan - partitioning recommendations and design decisions related to the size and usage characteristics
. Provide advice and recommendations on strategic project planning
. Provide DB2 UDB DPF physical model creation and implementation (data type, indexing, tablespace design)
. Ensure Adherence to corporate standards for Database Administration
. Provide oversight of and recommendations on Industry and DB2 UDB best practices in the areas of Data Warehousing, DB2 UDB v8 Clustered and non-Clustered system implementations
. Provide advice, recommendations and design decisions on data design of Materialized Query Tables, Multi Dimensional Clustering tables and other summary tables as needed.
. Provide advice, recommendations and design decisions on Backup and Recovery techniques.
. Provide advice, recommendations and design decisions on Disaster Recovery techniques.
. Provide advice, recommendations and design decisions on High Availability techniques.
. Provide advice, recommendations and design decisions on data loading, extraction and transformation techniques
. Provide advice, recommendations and design decisions on DB2 UDB v8 (and prior) capabilities and functionality that may be exploited in the applications.
. Provide and assist in facilitating communications of application and database administration implementation requirements and recommendations between all team members
. Review and modify as necessary logical data models
. Participate in on-site DBA implementation activities as needed.
. Participate in capacity planning and sizing activities to define the appropriate hardware and software initial environment and growth for applications.
. Provide short, adhoc educational sessions on topics related to DB2 UDB
. Provide OTJ training to personnel
. Provide backup for the Sr Database Application Architect and Database Administrators
. Provide recommendations for Unix Systems Administration architecture, design and implementation for large database systems.
. Provide recommendations on Disk Subsy
