Description
BGI is looking for a Senior UNIX Administrator with the following skills: Job Description: Scope: Plans and executes a variety of highly complex assignments associated with managing and controlling UNIX systems. Analyzes system faults, troubleshoots, and runs diagnostic tests on operating systems and hardware to detect problems. Evaluates and installs developed software during various phases of testing. Works on complex problems. Coordinates the remote testing of products in other areas. Reviews and prepares documentation for systems, tests and installation of software. Investigates and recommends methods and techniques to be used for obtaining solutions. Initiates preventive maintenance on the operating systems as well as repair to system/environment problems. Administers and/or oversees systems/environment solutions for multiple projects with varying schedules which are critical to the success of programs. Plans system/environment requirements for individual projects. May participate in the creation/maintenance of the overall management plan. May act as an internal consultant providing work direction and technical guidance to others. Regularly interacts with senior management. Responsible for the technical direction, leadership, and training of less experienced staff.
