Description
Our client seeks top-notch & highly experienced Sr. UNIX Systems Administrators to participate in the development of open systems architecture and strategy across their large, multi-vendor platform environment. They utilize the latest hardware and O/S software technology from HP, IBM, EMC, etc. - consisting of mainframes thru midrange, client/server and web-based systems.This individual will be responsible for installing and managing LINUX (RedHat, SUSE, etc.) and HP-UX systems - including High Availability, measuring and tuning performance, developing system recovery solutions as well as providing internal user departments with consulting advice on application design issues, platform selections and hardware & software implementations. Additional responsibilities will include interfacing with vendors to resolve complex technical issues.Qualified candidates must possess the following:. 10+ years IT experience. In depth & detailed understanding of LINUX & HP-UX internals. Knowledge of UNIX server architectures - within a medium to large-scale environment. Experience with EMC storage solutions. Hands-on experience with PERL, KORN/BOURNE Shell Scripting. Working knowledge of LAN/WAN network interfaces. Exposure to database environments - ie: ORACLE, SYBASE, DB2Also required are:. Excellent verbal communication skills. Strong documentation/technical writing skills. Ability to work well within a fast-paced and dynamic environment - multi-tasking projects. Availability for occasional off hours work - due to their 24 X 7 operations. Periodic attendance in NYC meetings with various user departments
