Description
Senior Unix Administrator Location: Los Angeles, CAJob Description Responsible for the day to day management of Linux and Unix (perferabily AIX and Solaris) Unix servers. Sr. level Engineer that is responsible for complex system administration configuration, performance management and problem resolution. Position Requirements Manages servers using information obtained from the network systems management tools.Provides daily support of servers including capacity monitoring and back-up.Makes recommendations for modifications, enhancements and general projects related work.Assists in the resolution of complex help desk calls and acts as a mentor and coach to lower level support staff. Preferred Skills and Abilities Strong Linux Redhat Experience Required, 5 plus years managing a Linux Redhat in an Enterprise Environment. Must be Linux Redhat certified (current version or 1 previous), Experience with AIX or Sun a plus. Documentation skills, excellent communication skills, familiar with logical volumes, filesystems, volume groups, san (EMC) at the OS level, Disaster Recovery, in a North America distributed environment, performance and monitoring, performance tuning, knowledable of Kickstart and management. Ability to multi task and manage several projects throughout North America. Must beable to share in 24 x 7 on-call rotation. Physical Actions Required job duties are essentially sedentary work consisting of occasional walking, standing and lifting and/or carrying 10 lbs. maximum, and seeing. Physical Environment Required job duties are normally performed in a climate controlled office environment. Education Requirements 4 year degree. IT background or emphasis. Experience Requirements 5 year experience in server management, server application deployment, performance and capacity planning, hardware and OS managment provisioning in a technology / engineering environment. Must beable to support 24 x 7 on-call rotation. Special Skills Requirements Ability to utilize keyboard.
