Description
System Engineer/Architect/Administrators design, construct, test and implement basic integrated network hardware and software solutions, distributed computing solutions, and physical/logical communications networks. They monitor performance to identify and resolve system infrastructure problems.

The required skillset is as follows:
UNIX Skill Set
-Knowledge of UNIX shell programming
-Basic knowledge of C/C++ programming
-At least two years of UNIX experience UNIX
administration and tuning
-Working knowledge of HP-UX, AIX, Linux, Solaris,
and Tru64 (at least 3 of the 5)

Hardware
-Understanding of basic hardware architectures
-Understanding of servers, memory, I/O
subsystems, tape backups
-Applies knowledge to basic sizing and
configuration knowledge
-Understand basic storage principles like RAID
and SANs

Database
-Knowledge of at least two different database
technologies (Oracle, DB2, My*SQL, Netezza, or
Sybase)
-Oracle DBA knowledge is essential
-Understanding of how a database interacts with
the operating system, server, and storage
-Advanced database tuning understanding
