Description
As a mature and responsible technical multi-tasking professional, you will be working in the Marina Bay area of Richmond, on a design team with a rapidly growing, financially-stable pre-IPO firm with great benefits and awesome career opportunities. You will work in System Admin(not system development)to design, implement, and maintain a solid reliable UNIX infrastructure in a heterogeneous FreeBSD/Linux environment. Work hours for this full-time permanent position are generally 8am-5pm Mon-Fri. Approximately 10% travel (once every 2 months) is involved to service client installations. This position reports to the Support Manager and is open for immediate interview and hire. Responsibilities include: Maintaining FreeBSD/Linux server infrastructureMaintaining all firewalls, including Cisco, and FreeBSD IPFW rules Maintaining FreeBSD/Linux applications postfix, RSA server, DNS, etc., and implementing new application when necessaryCreating and maintaining complete network documentationManaging FreeBSD/Linux backups and offsite storage of tape mediaLevel 3 support: Troubleshoot and resolve Free/BSD Linux server problems to support clients and engineers mission-critical installations in the field.Maintain Gateway hosts and VPNs, as well as systems in the development/demo lab area while supporting diverse computer (IBM Enterprise X-series) and output hardware and FreeBSD/Linux software needs in the lab.

Requirements:

The successful candidate will possess the following skill requirements: A minimum of 5 years experience as a UNIX server administrator.At least 5 years client-support, either in tech support, Unix support or Unix system administration. Must be able to configure software RAID 5 and or 1 and hardware support of various levels of hardware RAID arrays and attached/related equipment.Must be highly proficient with FreeBSD, Linux Redhat Enterprise 3 or 4.Must be self-managed to meet delivery deadlines and motivate other team members to completion of milestonesMust possess and demonstrate excellent communication and documentation skills Must be proficient scripting with Perl, C-sh, Bash (or other UNIX shells)Must be proficient with DNS, NFS/Samba, DHCP, BGP, RSAMust be proficient with UNIX security and firewall designMust be proficient with Mylex, 3Ware, RAID cardsIn depth familiarization with MySQL and Postgre databases is a plusAbsolutely necessary to possess a strong mechanical aptitude Must have a BS/MS in Computer Science, Engineering, or be able to demonstrate real proven and referenceable track record of relevant industry experience. DOD clearance is a plus.Must have reliable transportation Interviewing now with goal of start BY FEBRUARY 1, 2006.
