Senior Vice President Systems Development







The Senior VP of Development is responsible for overseeing the projects and staff involved in the applications development process in a global environment. The SVP is responsible for assisting in setting applications and corporate direction, developing and enforcing overall applications architecture, managing the development staff, setting project dates and priorities within overall corporate goals and creating and enforcing department policies and procedures.



Qualifications:

Minimum 10 years experience managing large projects / project teams


Strong understanding of the UNIX platform


Understanding of desktop systems, Windows and Mac based Concepts of developing in a distributed, object oriented environment


Programming in C++, PHP, Java, scripting in Perl, Python and Ruby


Experience trouble-shooting and debugging


Understanding of object-oriented programming discipline


Proficient in developing high availability / high performance applications in a global environment


Tuning and optimization skills in systems and applications

Manages architecture, data base administration and applications development personnel in a geographically dispersed environment.

Manages multiple technical teams within budget and project schedule.

Manages key vendor relationships including outsourced and contract programming staff.

Defines, communicates and enforces policies, procedures and standards for the department.

Mentors key technical staff.

Manages the development of technical directors and senior technical managers.

Handles difficult personnel situations directly, using appropriate discretion, HR advice, and respect for the individual.

Sets staff schedules, work assignments and priorities consistent with corporate priorities.

Serves as a technical resource, as needed, to ensure all project deliverables are met on schedule.

Responsible for recruiting new associates within the development area.

Assists the staff in coding systems components as necessary to meet deadlines.

Develops relationships and interfaces with other areas of the company to ensure alignment with company goals and priorities.

Keeps current with new technologies and trends to ensure company maintains technological edge.

Participates in corporate planning and budgeting


Supervisory Responsibilities
:


The Senior Vice President of Development is responsible for supervising managers and staff within the span of control of the position. The SVP is also responsible for overseeing outside entities that provide development services to the company.




The Senior Vice President of Development has a large degree of latitude in completing the job as long as it is consistent with overall corporate culture, values, priorities and direction.
