Title: Senior Web Application Analyst #57149
Location: San Francisco, CA

General Summary:

We are seeking a motivated and experienced individual to help define and drive ongoing development of features and functionality that enhance our browser-based, database-driven system for web content management and website administration. This includes working with creative staff to define and document detailed functional specifications for the internet, extranet and intranet web presences that are based on this content management platform.

We currently host 33 localized versions of the corporate website in 15 languages, as well as two global extranets (one of them in 10 languages). The publishing system is used by more than 220 employees world wide to administer these sites.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

As the lead analyst you will be a ?product manager?/?product designer? for our web applications. You will help create and maintain a mission-critical enterprise publishing system by regularly revisiting and answering the following questions:

  • What do we want the system to do?
  • How do we want the system to work?
  • How can the system continue to adapt to new business needs, changing requirements and new uses

You will work with end users, creative designers, and technical architects of the system to do the following.

  • Ensure that the needs of World Wide Marketing, and the corporation as a whole are effectively served by the web presences we support
  • Act as the decision-maker, defining desired behavior and prioritizing development and testing efforts
  • Facilitate and lead the day-to-day process of resolving minor feature requests and defects as they are identified.
  • Address the ?pain points? of publishers and find new ways for them work more efficiently
  • Extend the ability of the system to publish content to the web, and via web services, in a highly-scalable and localizable fashion

You will create and update comprehensive, detailed documentation while collaborating with your teammates to support the work of both Java developers and QA engineers, and ensure the ongoing success of our web applications. This documentation will include business requirements, detailed functional specifications, and use cases.

You will communicate and facilitate discussions with groups of publishers, developers, and creative designers and make presentations to drive resolution on proposed features and functionality.

You will also:

  • Maintain familiarity with other content management systems and concepts, to be aware of advances in the industry and opportunities to improve our product
  • Assist with content for end-user communications, documentation and training presentations as needed

Requirements:

  • Excellent written and oral communication and collaboration skills
  • Strategic, analytical thinker that can manage long-term, short-term and cross product issues and objectives, and solve complex problems
  • Ability to pragmatically translate business owner?s needs into the most efficient and extensible technology solution that is achievable within time and resource constraints
  • A philosophical approach to application development that values extensibility, reusability, and leveraging existing functionality and eschews one-off, special purpose development wherever possible
  • Ability to gather, document and prioritize business requirements based on feedback from a variety of different business users
  • Flexibility in responding to practical business needs, support inherited applications, and adapting to changing business environment
  • Ability to set priorities and consistently meet deadlines
  • Ability to consistently produce deliverables of the highest quality
  • Practical, hands-on experience in the implementation and use of database-driven web content management systems (e.g. Interwoven, Stellent, Ektron, Microsoft Content Management Server) to support multiple websites.
  • Excellent working understanding of basic internet protocols and client-side coding languages (HTML, JavaScript, CSS) and their limitations
  • A minimum of five years experience designing and documenting web applications that solve practical business problems
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze and prioritize user needs and management goals and distill them into clear, well-documented, well-written, concise business requiremen
