Walt Disney Parks and Resorts operates and licenses eleven theme parks on three continents. It also operates 35 resort hotels, two luxury cruise ships, and a wide variety of other entertainment offerings.

The Walt Disney Parks and Resorts Online (WDPRO) Group oversees all of the online web activities, e-commerce, online attractions and informational sites representing the Walt Disney Company theme parks, resort hotel properties and cruise lines This includes handling all online pre-arrival arrangements, such as bookings. Consumers can also visit sites for exciting online simulations of experiences at theme parks and resorts. Although part of the Walt Disney Internet Group, the online technology group works closely with management at the WDPRO organization.

The Walt Disney Internet Group is part of the Walt Disney Company, one of the most of respected and successful entertainment companies in the world. The company also operates the ABC Television Network; ESPN Sports Network; the ABC Radio Networks; theme parks, resorts and cruise lines; television and radio stations. It provides programming for the cable television industry, publishes daily and weekly newspapers, shopping guides and specialized periodicals. Annual revenues exceed $27 billion.

POSITION SUMMARY

Walt Disney Parks & Resorts Online (WDPRO) is an exciting and dynamic environment that is responsible for creating the web presence for the entire spectrum of Walt Disney’s vacation and travel offerings.

The Web Developer role for Walt Disney Parks and Resorts Online calls for a seasoned front-end developer with 4-5 years of experience, working to create new websites, update existing websites, as well as provide technical leadership, feedback, and oversight for various technical initiatives undertaken by WDPRO. As such, this candidate should excel in all components of the web development skill set including; HTML, DHTML, CSS, AJAX, Tea template integration with our Content Management System, slicing layered Photoshop files, site maintenance and troubleshooting. The candidate is expected to perform autonomously, at times in a leadership role, and have a clear understanding of the WDPRO project development process.

When tasked with leadership responsibilities, the candidate for this position is expected to be able to drive project initiatives, communicate technical decisions and processes to technical project managers and functional managers. This candidate should be able to deliver projects successfully and on time with little oversight required.

    QUALIFICATIONS

  • Expert-level knowledge of either DHTML, CSS or JavaScript and very strong experience in others
  • Strong experience with ASP/JSP/PHP or similar server-side scripting language
  • Proven ability to work with all members of a extended and diverse project team
  • Experience architecting content and file structure for Content Management Systems
  • Experience drafting requirements and functional specifications
  • Must be detail oriented, self-organized and capable of simultaneously tracking multiple issues of varying complexity
  • Hands-on structured programming experience

    SPECIFIC SKILLS REQUIRED

  • 4-5 years of web development, including DHTML, CSS and JavaScript
  • 2-3 years experience with ASP/JSP/PHP or other server-side scripting language
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to use experience to quickly and efficiently troubleshoot issues
  • Some technical project or team leadership experience
  • Experience writing technical specs and driving them through development
