Description
Major Responsibilities
This is a senior level professional software engineer position (4+ years experience) with responsibilities including design, implementation, and maintenance of features.
Develop high-quality software solutions for mass-market (shrink-wrap) software with hundreds of thousands of customers and millions of users.
Develop and integrate new protection technologies for defense against viruses
Program client and server side C++ .
Program server side Java.
Program user interface C++ in MMC.
Author Functional Specification and Design Specification Documents to outline solutions to fulfill explicit and implicit requirements.
Develop high quality designs and code with respect to testability, internationalization, scalability, performance, security, and fault tolerance.
Develop unit and automated regression test scripts for execution within the automated build environment.
Identify, evaluate, learn and apply new technology skills rapidly.
Communicate within and across technical teams.
Provide estimates and manage own schedule at component/sub-system level.
Identify and implement innovative solutions to present and future customer needs. This includes forecasting needs, and deriving requirements from customer interactions.
Interact with Quality Assurance and Product Management to ensure successful fulfillment of customer needs.

Position Requirements and Education
Must have 4+ years professional programming experience.
Must have experience programming in C++ for Windows applications.
Should have Windows service experience.
Should have shrink-wrap, or mass-market equivalent programming experience.
Enterprise-class shrink-wrap experience a plus.
Must have a working knowledge of inter-process and network communication, multi-threading design considerations. Also required; portability (especially Windows and Linux), scalability, data structures, exception handling and writing secure code. Must have comprehension and knowledge of fundamental algorithms.
Must have experience designing and coding using design patterns.
Knowledge or experience of Architectural Patterns a plus.
Must have Windows platform experience.
Should have COM experience.
Experience with Windows device driver or kernel programming a plus.
Experience with Linux or Netware a plus.
Must have multiple life-cycle experience.
Should have two or more full lifecycles cycles at a single product or employer.
Must work well in a team environment; take team successes and failures as own.
Must communicate effectively through technical documentation, email and face-to-face. Must be a proactive communicator.
Must find creative solutions to complex problems with ambiguous trade-off optimizations.
Must write clear technical documentation and chair effective reviews.
Must adapt to rapidly changing environments and communicate effectively.
Must be customer-driven.
Must be passionate about meeting customer needs and contributing to a successful team.
Must be willing to locate in Southern California.
Bachelors degree in Engineering, Computer Science or equivalent work experience required.
