Senior Systems Administrator – Altiris Suite Specialist

Position Overview:
As Senior Systems Administrator on the IT Service Management team, you will administer (install, support, and maintain) the Altiris Suite used in the Kroll IT Infrastructure.   As process owner, you will design, support, and maintain logical systems working with a variety of business partners.
 
Responsibilities:
*    Serve as Altiris Suite technical interface with vendor support organizations; maintain current version, track known issues, and outstanding bugs. Develop and maintain application backup and recovery procedures.
 
*    Work with IT teams to facilitate both configuration upgrades and new application installations; ensure effective project plans are in place to roll out upgrade and new applications.
 
*    Create and maintain technical documentation and configurations for application troubleshooting. Ensure business continuity through effective documentation that meets business standards.
 
*    Implement and maintain the security of the application. Work closely with SA, DBA, and Security teams to ensure that the application setup conforms to corporate standards.
 
*    Develop and maintain reports using data gathered from Altiris Inventory Solution. Respond to business data reporting needs in an effective, accurate and timely fashion.
 
*    Work with the Configuration Management team to maintain the CMDB and validate changes to the environment.
 
*    Address change needs prior to implementation, ensuring adequate system testing prior to new releases moving into production.
 
*    Provide training to IT Operations on best practice use of the Altiris Suite.

Experience/Skills
Qualifications:
*    Two plus years administering Altiris Notification Server 6, Altiris Deployment Server 6, and the Altiris Recovery solution. Quick learner with ability to manage complex Altiris management and deployment processes. Experience creating and maintaining hardware independent images, and remotely deploying images.
 
*    Solid experience with IIS, SQL Server administration, Windows (2000/2003) Systems Engineering, Terminal Server, Windows Networking, Windows Troubleshooting
 
*    Strong experience with administration in the following environments: Windows 2000/2003, Windows XP, Windows Vista, Linux, MAC, and VMWare ESX Server.
 
*    Client management experience in a Microsoft environment Windows 2000, XP
 
*    Functional understanding of networking technologies (Active Directory, TCP/IP, DHCP, DNS, WAN/LAN, VPN, Switches/Routers)
 
*    Data Architecture background and expertise; Working knowledge of a Configuration Management Database (CMDB)
 
*    Working knowledge of scripting languages (VBScript, Perl); Solid experience with SQL Server 2005 and SQL scripting for custom report generation.
 
Education:
*    Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or MIS; or equivalent technical work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience
 
*    ITIL Foundation certification
