Description
Job Title: Server Operations & Support Administrator
Location: Auburn Hills, MI 48326
Contract with Option to Hire

Summary of Duties:
Leads and completes the research, technical analysis and design of the company's global server and storage architecture, presenting formal recommendations to IT management. Evaluates the migration, security, network, desktop, enterprise backup and recovery and disaster recovery implications of any such recommendation. Establishes server, related hardware, software configuration and site configuration standards. Coordinates and oversees the infrastructure components of the IT architecture plan, including: server/storage, shop floor devices, desktops/laptops/PDAs, LAN/WAN, etc, by working closely with hardware and software vendors and infrastructure team members to evaluate, select, install and support new products and technology. As a senior member of technical services, participates in and/or leads the installation, configuration, administration, monitoring and support of servers and related hardware and software.

REQUIREMENTS:
-Degree: University degree in the field of computer science or management information systems or a related discipline.
-Experience: 5-7 years of relevant working experience in a Wintel environment supporting and environment with 200+ servers, in a global environment.
-Personal skills: Excellent communication skills both written and verbal, Strong project management skills
-Languages: English (fluent), other languages as required by location

Technical knowledge:
" Server technologies: NT, W2K, Windows 2003 Server, Exchange Server, RedHat, Linux, Exchange, SQL, IIS, Proxy, Apache, Site Server, ASP, or XML.
" Familiarity with WAN/LAN technologies and protocols: TCP/IP, VPN, Switching, SNMP, DSL, ISDN, Network backups, leased lines and structured cabling;
" Windows NT and MS Windows 2000 Operating Systems support and maintenance; hardware configuration & related platform and application support;
" VERITAS Backup Exec and Tape Library management;
" Peripherals: Printers, Fax, PDA's (Blackberry, Palm), remote access etc.
" Exceptional abilities at load balancing, clustering, and caching procedures and processes
" Experience with server performance tuning and monitoring tools
" General knowledge of storage technologies such as SAN or NAS
" Active Directory/Global Catalogue/DNS/WINS
" Business process and reengineering experience, as well as an understanding of the relationship between processes and policies
" Proven knowledge of systems development life cycle methodologies.
" Project management skills a definite asset.

Additional knowledge: Desired; Automotive, Project management experience, Technical writing
Travel: Ability to travel without restriction on business to Canada, US, Europe and other places where TDS does business. Amount of travel estimated at 25 to 50%.
