Server System Supervisor

For this position, you will be responsible for Enterprise Maintenance and support for core and mission critical Windows and UNIX servers for this company that provides Medical and Dental insurance to groups and individuals in Oregon.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Overseeing and coordinating the activities of the Server Systems Group
  
• Supervising a large, complex server and network environment
  
• Supervising Windows and UNIX administrators
  
• Evaluating and/or recommending purchases
  
• Recommending policies on system use and services
  
• Providing yearly budget estimates
  
• Supervising the creation, updates, and maintenance of system support documentation
  
• Providing input for the Business Resumption plan for enterprise servers
  
• Helping to keep server, software, and application maintenance and service contracts up to date
  
• Recommending and implementing training
  
• Assisting with interviewing and performance evaluations
  
• Communicating system status and outages to departments

• 5+ years related work experience
  
• Experience in a Senior/Lead IS role supporting Windows and/or UNIX servers in a medium to large enterprise environment
  
• Experience writing small C or C# programs
  
• Experience in virtualization technologies for Windows and UNIX platforms
  
• Understanding of an administrative language (SQL, Perl, Shell)
  
• Understanding of porting programs from one platform to another
  
• Understanding of Microsoft Windows Servers
  
• Knowledge of UNIX
  
• Knowledge of network systems, protocols, and standards (Ethernet, TCP/IP, LAN, WAN, MAN, Sonet, Frame Relay, xDSL, ATM, T1, 802.11x)
  
• Ability to work well under pressure (with frequent interruptions and shifting priorities)
  
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and project a professional business image
  
• Willingness to be available 24/7
  
• Keen attention to detail
  
• Solid problem solving, decision making, and analytical skills
  
• Excellent communication, collaboration, and presentation skills
  
• Bachelors degree in Computer Science or a related field
  
• Experience with VMWare, AIX, and AIX LPAR is a plus
