ConFocus (A subsidiary of Solectron Corporation) is seeking a Set-top Box Hardware Architect to lead the hardware architecture to design, implement, and maintain all phases of hardware development for cable, satellite and IP set-top boxes, interactive television and Digital TV. Primary responsibility will lead the hardware design, development, debug, test, maintenance, and manufacturing. This position is located in Norcross, GA (Atlanta, GA).



The candidate must be a self-starter and broad thinker who can demonstrate the ability to work independently, multi-task, and deliver completed projects and testing requirements in a timely manner. Ability to solve problems and exhibit participatory approach as needed is essential.



Additional responsibilities include:



  • Work with Software Architects and Business team to develop functional requirements.

  • Create detailed hardware requirements and architecture.

  • Take responsibility for maintaining the Bill of Materials.

  • Lead a team through creation and review of schematics and layout.

  • Support manufacturing.



    This position requires a BS or MS in Electrical Engineering, with at least 10+ years applicable experience. Candidate should be a seasoned set-top box hardware designer that can help architect and design complex set-top box systems. Candidate must possess a thorough understanding of digital television technologies. The successful candidate will have excellent oral and written skills, with a proven ability to lead design and engineering teams.



    Required Experience

  • 8+ Years hardware design and development experience

  • Digital Set-top hardware design and development (Cable, Satellite, Terrestrial, and/or IPTV)

  • MPEG-2 System Level Knowledge

  • Knowledge or Digital related standards such as ATSC, SCTE, and DVB

  • Knowledge of FCC, UL, CE, IEC, and Environmental testing

  • Knowledge of Manufacturing processes
