Title: Six Sigma Data Collection Manager

Location: Eden Prairie, MN only

PURPOSE

The Six Sigma Data Collection Manager is responsible for coordinating and facilitating the data collection activities for SUPERVALU Six Sigma deployment. The Data Collection Manager also serves as the liaison between Six Sigma Black Belts/Green Belts and the data warehousing team by helping Black Belts/Green Belts establish business requirements and identify data sources for data collection activities. He/she is also responsible for establishing and managing the data collection process for Six Sigma, including helping direct the activities of Six Sigma data mining resources and ensuring service level agreements are met.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

- Interpersonal Skills: effective team leadership skills; proven ability to drive team of individuals toward a specified goal; proactive, aggressive approach to completing tasks
- Directs data collection process for Six Sigma, including issue escalation and monitoring of service level agreements between Six Sigma resources and data mining activities
- Acts as escalation contact point for Six Sigma Black Belts/Green Belts to resolve data collection issues
- Builds and maintains collaborative working relationships with SUPERVALU’s proprietary data experts, including pharmacy, HR, electronic marketing, etc., to ensure Six Sigma data resources gain access to the necessary data systems
- Manages Six Sigma relationship with IT data warehousing team to share data quality issues to help improve overall data quality in the business
- Directs approach and activities to automate continuous data requests for the business
- Collaborates with IT to identify and resolve data quality issues identified through Six Sigma projects and resources

JOB SCOPE

  • Directs up to 15 full time Six Sigma data mining resources across multiple geographies (5-10 direct reports and 5 indirect reports)
  • Manages data requirements and requests from 125 Black Belts and over 1000 project sponsors (approximately 1000-2000 monthly data requests)

    JOB REQUIREMENTS

  • Organizational Competence: knowledge of SUPERVALU business model, including key business contacts and processes
  • Data/Technical Skills: understanding of SUPERVALU data sources; technical experience using data warehouse or analytical tools for business purposes; knowledge of/experience in SUPERVALU proprietary information systems (HR, Pharmacy, Electronic Marketing systems, SDIS); deep technology skills in data collection and analysis; ability to translate business requirements into technical data requirements; knowledge of key data warehousing processes; proficient in the use of office automation tools (Microsoft Office, Outlook, Clarity, Interwise, and other Internet applications)
  • Communication Skills: strong oral and written communication abilities; able to communicate to various levels of the organization and across geographies
  • Leadership: Maintains a solid leadership role within Six Sigma and Supervalu in terms of growing, automating, and allocating data collection resources for the continued success of the Enterprise; Promotes a level of cooperation between Six Sigma and vested SUPERVALU stakeholders
  • Problem Solving: Demonstrates flexible and dynamic analytical and deductive skills; able to drive results in tactical operations while directing principal Six Sigma support processes

  • Minimal or no travel required
