Position: Systems Development - Specialist
The Candidate must have the ability to quickly comprehend existing processes, assisting in the development of new processes and provide process improvement opportunities. The Candidate is responsible for reviewing Defined Benefits and Health and Welfare business requirements and providing necessary feedback. The Candidate needs to have excellent communication skills, both oral and written including explaining complex technical concepts to non-technical users. Some on-call support will be needed.

EXPERIENCE:
The Candidate needs to have 1+ years of experience with C/Sybase/SQL/Unix, project management and Microsoft Office experience.

The Candidate needs to:
  • Work well in a team environment, providing support to business users and technical staff.
  • Have the ability to effectively communicate with all levels of management, corporate personnel and end users.
  • Demonstrate strong analytical and problem solving skills
  • Have a strong ability to be organized, manage time and handle multiple tasks/projects and priorities in a fast-paced dynamic environment.
  • Have knowledge, and practical experience in following proper SDLC (system development life cycle) methods


    RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:
  • The Candidate is required to work with their business counterparts to resolve issues and plan projects.
  • The Candidate will be required to troubleshoot coding and design issues.
  • The Candidate will initially be responsible for developing Defined Benefit (Pension) calculation program and Health & Welfare eligibility calculation program client specific applications using C and SQL in Unix and Windows environments. The Candidate will eventually be expected to transition to the following role:

  • Coordinate the system development life cycle with the core development team, including offshore resources in our India Development Center, systems analysts and business analysts
  • Execute unit test plans before releasing the code.
  • Review code developed by the offshore team in India.


    EDUCATION: Bachelor's degree (B.S. in computer science) from a four-year college or university.
    OTHER DESIRABLE SKILLS: Exposure to/Knowledge of Perl, C++, C#, Microsoft Access and VB is a plus.
