Description
A local Sacramento company is looking for a Software Engineer. The Software Engineer must be capable of defining build and release processes and establish release concepts and best practices for our next generation of web based software. This candidate should have an excellent understanding of SCM (Software Configuration Management) principles. The Software Engineer must be able to work with development, quality assurance, and customer engineering teams to create scripts, Windows Installer files, and other toolsets for automating code compilations and managing installations. This candidate must have excellent communication skills, work independently and be able to work with other engineering and product team members to reach common product goals.Essential Functions:• Produce software builds, releases, hot fixes, and patches• Work closely with technical writers and customer engineering to author product installation guides and knowledge base articles • Work with developers, QA engineers and system administrators to promote effective and efficient SCM processes• Facilitate acceptance testing of builds and releases for each customer and maintaining records of version of SW, patch level, configuration files • Assist in managing source control, software builds, release process and defect tracking systems throughout the development lifecycle for multiple software products• Assist in creation and maintaining build scripts and processes; troubleshoot and resolve build issues. • Assist in integrating automated systems and/or tools into the SCM processes.• May be required to assist with administration of servers and/or general product development efforts as a secondary responsibilityKnowledge, Skill and Experience:1. Minimum Education (or substitute experience) required: Bachelor's degree (B.A. or B.S.) from four year college or university in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field; and five years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.2. Minimum Experience required: 2+ years of software configuration management supporting multi-project and parallel development environments. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Specialized Skills Required:• Prior professional experience with Microsoft Visual Studio 2005, SourceSafe, MS Build and/or WiX, Microsoft .NET framework, and Windows Server 2003. • Prior experience with Microsoft Visual Studio 2005 Team Foundation Server is preferred, but experience with any other industry standard build/installation management technologies will be considered (InstallShield, NAnt, CruiseControl.NET).• Experience automating releases/builds of web based applications• Strong experience in SCM best practices, SDLC, build environments, source control operations (branching, integration), product release cycles and software configuration management concepts is preferred. Must demonstrate the ability to leverage that experience into designing build processes for future products, as well as revamping existing processes. • A proven record of success delivering multiple individual products in an aggressive, fast-paced engineering organization • Experienced with scripting/programming languages (C#, VBScript)• Experience with SharePoint 2003 a plus• Experience building SharePoint 2007 Solutions and Features a huge plus
