Perot Systems is currently looking for a Software Configuration Manager to join our team in Southern, CA.

Job Responsibilities:
The Software Configuration Manager will be responsible for coordinating code management, build process and production releases for a suite of custom web and client server applications. This will involve setting standards, planning and administering the source code and documentation repository, meeting with project and team leads to discuss current environments and recommend process improvements, and document all configuration management processes.

Additional duties will include: interfacing with all levels of project members from engineering, documentation, quality assurance, system/business analyst, and management to ensure that solutions deployed meet defined requirements; conduct deployments to the various development, testing, and production environments, and will be critical in the planning of production support and capital project releases; Develop and administer versioning and build conventions; establish standards and procedures for utilizing IBM Clearcase and assist in the migration from Visual Source Safe to the Clearcase toolset; conduct training on newly established standards and procedures for code management/build process; work closely with applications development team to understand objects that are required for a given build; Develop formal procedures to ensure objects are included and the build is properly tested; Generate reports to show objects affected for given release and track code stability if required; Work closely with Release Manager to plan releases and coordinate the deployment activities for a given release across all applications; Assist in the setup or maintenance of build/test environments; and Continually look to improve the code management, build, and release process.

Required Skills:
  • 5+ years of direct experience in a Software Configuration Manager role.

  • Experience in Change Control. Possess the ability to systematically manage numerous changes so that system integrity is maintained.

  • Experience in source code control using Clearcase and Visual Source Safe.

  • Experience in packaging client server applications for install.

  • Experience in deploying web application code.

  • Experience in automating various build processes, and to create required test environments as needed.

  • Knowledge of SQL Server database management essential.

  • Solid knowledge of ASP, .NET & VB 6 technologies.

  • Deep knowledge of IBM?s rational Clearcase toolset, and knowledge of converting from other CM tools to ClearCase using the ClearImport command.

  • Deep knowledge of the Software Development Lifecycle.


    • Desired Skills:
  • Upgrade of CM tools and operating systems.

  • Knowledge of operating systems Linux, Unix, and Windows

  • Scripting skills (PERL, batch file)

  • Knowledge of CMMI and configuration management key process areas

  • Experience developing standard reporting process (metrics) for user adds/removes, disk space utilization, repository size/aging, and regular analyze & repair schedule

  • Added plus is knowledge of the Rational toolset (ClearQuest, RequisitePro, TestManager, etc.) and their integrations with ClearCase using the UCM (Unified Change Management) component.

  • Familiarity with Wise installs a plus.


    • Minimum Educational Requirements:
  • Technical College Degree desired.
