John Deere Construction and Forestry is seeking a Software Design Supervisor to provide supervision for the planning and execution of all software design, on eleven Dubuque-designed product lines. In this position, you will:

Follow the Enterprise Embedded Software Development Process, thus ensuring that the software and system performance meets program goals and customer expectations.
Ensure the quality and timeliness in completing software design projects per schedule. Much of the software design will be of major transmission, hydraulic or operator interface systems on aggressive schedules.
Supervise eight Deere employees and organize the design work of nine on-site contract employees.
Work with software development leadership from throughout the Deere enterprise to create strategies to develop and implement common tools and processes to improve software design efficiency and quality.




Education

Four year degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering or equivalent experience.


Required Skills & Experiences

8+ years of embedded software development experience, including a combination of experiences in embedded software design, software testing/analysis and software quality assurance
Experience in embedded software design
Knowledge of Software Development Processes, including the Capability Maturity Model
Knowledge of software development metrics.
Ability to lead multiple software engineers in the development of multiple complex control system programs.
Experience and capability to summarize and communicate software development status to all levels of the organization.
Proven ability to manage software design programs while meeting quality and schedule requirements.


Desired Skills & Experiences

Knowledge of embedded hardware components.
Knowledge of Model Based Software Development principles.
Supervisory experience.
