Sr. Information Specialist - Database Administrator

This position will be responsible for managing Oracle and MS SQL Server databases located at the Irvine Technology Center in development, test/validation, and production environments. Additional responsibilities include configuration management and deployment of custom and third-party business applications implemented by the IT Applications Development group.

Primary Accountabilities
• Performing the installation, configuration, administration, maintenance, automated data extraction, transformation, and loading, backup, recovery, and performance tuning processes for all business databases using Oracle and MS SQL Server platforms in development, test/validation, and production environments.
• Reviewing the design and performing the deployment of database configurations (new and updated schemas and data loading jobs – SQL scripts stored procedures, DTS packages, etc.) in test/validation and production environments.
• Overseeing the creation, maintenance, scheduling and monitoring of database controlled jobs for Oracle and MS SQL Server databases in development, test/validation and production environments.
• Defining, implementing, and managing appropriate use of PVCS for development, maintenance, validation, and production use for the Irvine Technology Center's business applications.
• Deploying applications into server-based development, test/validation and production environments.

Requires – Education: B.S. in Math, Computer Science or equivalent technical training. Prefer M.S. in Computer Science, with an emphasis on database management systems.
Experience: 6-8 years of hands-on experience as both an Oracle and MS SQ Server DBA and development of client/server and web-based applications using complex SQL statements, stored procedures and automated data loading processes. Prefer 5-7 years of hands-on experience with both database platforms (Oracle and MS SQL Server). Must be proficient in Oracle 8i, 9i, and 10g and MS SQL Server 2000 and 2005 database design, administration (creation, monitoring, maintenance backup, restore, security, installation, configuration, and deployment), automated data migration tools and techniques (SQL scripts, stored procedures, DTS packages, etc.) and performance tuning. Must have proven expertise in the development of database-driven client/server and web-based applications using complex SQL statements and stored procedures.
